Reason #4: The "We Quietly Overcharge Our Frequent
Renters" Policy:
Fifteen months ago, I knew I was going to be doing a lot of
renting from Enterprise Rent-A-Car. At their invitation, I applied for a
corporate account, thinking I'd be getting a discount for volume.
This was a big mistake. It turns out that by entering your
corporate account number on their web site where you make your
I-wish-it-were-really-a-reservation "reservation", you're charged a
significantly higher price than if you simply went to their web site and tried
to reserve a car. The web site's design makes it especially hard to
compare the walk-up price with the corporate price, because you have to go all
the way back to the beginning of the "reservation" process and start everything
all over again.
If you follow their recommendations, you're actually penalized
for being a regular customer!
