Why I Built This Web Site:
I live and work in San Francisco, California. For the past
15 months, I've been a regular customer at Enterprise Rent-A-Car, mostly at
their 727 Folsom Street branch here in the city. I always make a confirmed
reservation, pick up and drop off on time, frequently purchase the
highly-profitable insurance coverage and have never damaged a car. I've
been friendly and flexible. I'm not just a regular customer, I'm a good
customer.
This web site tells the story of a dozen bad rental experiences
and why I now recommend against renting from Enterprise altogether.
Customer Service is consistently, predictably appalling and getting an honest
answer out of them is impossible. I've tried to talk with management a
dozen times but they've always been evasive, dishonest, or uncooperative.
I can only conclude they're a Failing Enterprise and have
begun their long, slow corporate decline.
I've taken to the web as a public service to describe my
personal experiences and conclusions.
This statement was originally dated December 27th, 2003 (and
has been updated since). On this day, the site first went live. This
is also the day I first informed Enterprise of the site and gave them my contact
information.
