I recently just got out of ERAC after 4 yrs (I was a BM). I'm moving on to a better and more respectible job with an investment firm, less hours, more pay, business casual dress, et cetera; you know the usual tale of former ERACers who were smart/talented enough to get out of McDonalds-prise, uh, I mean, Enterprise. (I'll miss some of the people, not the customers, accounts, or god awful job.)

Anyway, because I quit shortly after my anniversary date, I still had three weeks of vacation owed to me (even though I lost my choice time days). So that's what I'm doing now. I'm at the beach now and I'll start my new job in 1 week when I get back -- I've already been on vacation for 2 weeks. So I decided to try and experiment while I'm down here. I go to different bars/clubd at night with my buddies and we always end up meeting different people every night.

For the first week I was out here, I told people that I worked for ERAC for a living: "I work for Enterprise Rent-A-Car, I'm a branch manager." The repsonse I'd get from people was the typical pause followed by an "...oh..." or "...why..?"

During the second (and current) week, I have been telling people I meet that I'm currently unemployed (which, technically, is true, I think). I tell them I just quit my job (not saying from where I quit), and I'm going to collect unemployment for a while and try to find a job doing something that I love -- but basically I just want to chill and get drunnk for a month or so. You know what?? I get for props and repsect from people and more traction with girls telling the THIS than teling them I work for ERAC! Is that sad or what.

** One good thing about my ERAC career. Since all of the 5 branches in which I worked since I started were at least 25 miles from my house. I never once rented a car to someone I knew (friend, schoolmate, teacher, naighbor, et cetera). This would have been humiliating beyond belief.

See ya ERAC -- you're just a distant distasteful memory now. Although, in fairness to my hirers, I DID know exactly what I was getting into (shitty MT pay crappy job and all that) it didn't make the job suck any less. BYE.
Congrats, drink one for me.
