Re: Chris Kaufield is a douchbag You cannot blame the remarketing team for what they cannot control. The unfortunate thing is that 2 things are playing against them. First, they are selling cars that we paid too much for to begin with (i.e. $23,000 for a Ford 500 that sells for only $16,000......if you can find anyone who wants to buy it). Second, we are in a soft market with a very strong Canadian dollar. The dollar is so strong that it is now attractive for US cars to be sold in Canada. We got to reap the benefits of this 5-6 years ago, now its turned around on us. To be honoest the remarketing guys are bustin' thier balls to try and minimize our expense in inventory adjustment and the fact that we even saw $10/car last month is actually a testiment to thier hard work. July saw us pull our worst flipping units all at once (500's, Maxima's, Freestyle's, etc.) to minimize the impact on the group in August and September. With some of these cars selling as high as $6,000 in the red we should thank our lucky stars that we did not have negative flip. OP is where the money is at and we will get promoted on it above net every time. I would personally like to thank the remarketing team as I would not like to be in thier shoes selling with these market conditions - and to think the thanks they get is nothing but bitterness from rental. It is kinda sad actually and everyone in rental that has said something negative about the remarketing team should educate themselves on the facts before pointing the finger. I am thinking there are many employees in rental that owe apologies to remarketing and I will be the first to apologize on their behalf. |
