I met a lot of really good employees though but the management sucks and its just a gross scam overall. They really hussle you into believing that you can make 6 figures in 6 years if you work really hard. That they are "your future" and all that BS. I still kow people that work there....they are the "lifer's"...the ones that have been working for them since they graduated from college and won't leave because they are too far into the company to turn back now. The money does get good if you stay there long enough and continue to live "their dream" but when it comes down to if you can just "keep going"....in the long run...everybody gets burnt out and quits. Women that want kids...forget about it...guys that think they need to get out early for a family function...forget it. They say they are "all about family" but they are really all about "the ERAC family". If you don't bleed green then you can't be a part fo their family anymore. What cracked me up was when they held the "Happy Hours" events...ALL of the employees went home smashed and many of them got DUI's only to get fired. I remember one time when I came in early after an all night bender...I didn't drink much...and normally didn't but...I noticed my BM's car was still inthe parking lot from the night before. It didnt' make sense because he lived an hour away from our office. I went intot he building and the alarm was still enabled and no one was there, yet my BM's car was in the parking lot? Didn't make sense but I went about the normal routine. I started pulling "res" sheets and keys to start cleaning cars for the morning rush. Well...I went out to grab a 15 pack for a church group and low and behold...there was my BM...sleeping in the 15 pack...in the same clothes he was wearing yesterday. And boy was he passed out. I mean...I could barely wake him. He was still gone and mumbling. I know why his car was still there...becasue he never went home. He passed out in a 15 passenger van! The DM's were morans too. All they did was drive around and lecture people about continuing to sell damage waiver and blah blah blah. Years later I found out that the DM's and the even the RM's had all been fired. Guys that had been there for 15 years because the whole state group was out of control. Employees had wrecked cars after "Happy Hours". I remember how one time a BM forced an employee to work after he had appendix surgery. He ended up rupturing his stictches and he started bleeding at the front counter. I don't know what happened but it was crazy. I remember how my BM would make a reservation for a car at the very end of the night for the next morning... even though she didn't have any on the lot...then she wanted me to drive an hour to get one from an office someplace else. I told her to go to hell. It was ridiculous what that company did. I got two speeding tickets in ERAC cars while working a month before I quit. They never found out in time to fire me. Here's the thing that bothers me most...and this is the God aweful truth: When I started working there...I was in the best shape of my life. 215lbs...chiseled muscle...worked out all the time....after a year and 3 months of working there...I weighed 265lbs and was fat as I ever ever had been. I was so sick with myself. I ate bagels and pizza and McDonalds every day. In the end...I was so depressed by the job and the hazing that I couldn't take it anymore. I quit and went to Florida for Film School. Which was th best thing I ever did for myself. I know work in FILM/VIDEO/AV related stuff and I couldn't be happier that I quit that place. I swear I was a foot step away from having a heart attack. Anyway...I just had to vent...and it felt really good....I waited a long time to tell some of my story. Thanks for listening. JBZZZ |
You wrote a GREAT post here :) all you've said is the truest truth about ERAC .. no holds barred .... I have seen and heard very similar stuff you write about during my ERAC days which came to a screeching halt in December 2007 .... I celebrated x-mas 2007 with NO GREEN anywhere !!!! I am glad to hear you found greener pastures elsewhere (no pun intended on the "greener" lol) and are doing well ... have you lost all that weight ? It took me 4 months to take off mine, I did it slowly to keep it off .. and again weigh a svelte 119 lbs at 5'5 :) :) :)
All the best to you .... shake-hands-with "contracheck" :)
