He constantly sent out MS01's stating such things as "...there car is here...get in their and book the reservation... their are plenty of cars in the area..." and he was an area manager! I remember getting e-mails from Randy Hendershot, RVP GP 30, with horrendous spelling errors in them. Oh, and don't get me started on grammar! How the hell did they get to their level (notice the proper use of the word "their?") when they cannot even tell the difference between words that sound the same but mean different? Simply put, working for ERAC makes you stupid. Using your Bachelor's Degree to wash cars errodes your brain. If work for of are planning to work for ERAC, DON'T DO IT! YOU WILL REGRET IT! IT WILL RUIN YOUR LIFE. Seriously, if you have a family or want one, ERAC is not the place for you. ERAC is not family friendly. I can tell you horror stories about how I needed to take one of my children to the hospital for an emergency and my Branch Manager told me to have my wife do it. I had three kids. She needed help getting them all to the hospital and help while there. (again, notice the proper use of the word "there?") Not to mention that I needed to be there as a father for my child who was deathly ill. When I expressed the gravity of the situation my branch manager told me that my wife was a big girl and that she could handle it on her own. Also, if I left, they would start a "Significant Events Log," basically I would be written up.
I worked for that same guy Ken Greig, He couldn't spell for shit! I watched as he had one girl in the office (3008) always proofread his memos before he would send them out and they would still come out fucked up. His basic grammar and spelling became a butt of many interoffice jokes. This guy is basicly still just an overgrown fratboy. If you ever tried to actually talk numbers or business theory or anything that was even just slightly outside of the scope of what he was taught in training then he would freeze up. He couldn't keep up with the conversation and would change the subject by going back to the same lines he was taught in his trainings sessions. That was the thing that kept me hanging on as long as I did though. If this guy could hold that position, shit anyone can. I would look at him and other area managers, see how much they fucked off in their jobs when the heads above weren't looking and that they really weren't that bright. Looking at existing management, if they can do it, shit I can do that with my eyes closed. Thats what kept me there more than 2 weeks, I suspect thats the way others may feel as well. If you can put up with the bullshit for a few years you can get that cushy ARM spot, not have to use a bit of your brain and screw off all day just like I would watch my area managers do. They would "work from home" some days or of course go "marketing" on the golfcourse or just spend the day driving from branch to branch overpromising cars and taking people out to lunch. Send a few emails here and there etc.
