God, how true is that. Whenever I did the LC section of New Hire Training, I always, always told the kids that we knew stuff went on, we'd all been in rental, and we knew that all we could do was give them the training and hope they made good judgments.
The very best advice I always gave my newbies was this: If you aren't comfortable with the deal, don't put your name on it. Pass it off to the assistant or BRM and don't worry about your package sales. Another one will come along.
In other words, pass the buck UP because when the fit hits the shan and the cash Caddy gets totalled, the name on the contract is who gets to answer for the deal. Renter and employee alike.
