At my office if you miss the damage on the check in then it's the branches fault and they have to eat shit and fix the car out of pocket. Yes it comes out of the bottom line for the branch that month. We can't just call someone and say they damaged the car. We also don't allow people to drop off cars afterhours to prevent this type of situation. Don't need it? Ok yeah you have insurance on your car but what about the asshole that just rearended you. Too damn bad. You could have paid 15.99 for one day of "protection" and walked away with a smile. But you had to use your own insurance and now you are pissed off at me because I told you I would collect your 500.00 deductible if anything happened to the car. It drags on for about six months while you pay higher premiums to your insurance all because you didn't need any protection. Do the math if you rent longer than a week its not worth the price. However about 80% of the ERAC rentals are 2 days or less. Look, I'm no cheerleader for ERAC. I hate my job about 70% of the time. We are overworked, pushed hard to sell all the additional items we offer, and we are of course underpaid. You just need to be rational and look at the larger picture here. There are problems with everything that we do. What matters is what we do to fix them and not make the same mistakes. I rented about 30 cars today and only sold DW to 2 customers. 3 of them returned and I had to charge one a 1000.00 deductible for a 6 hour rental and he got sideswiped in a parking lot. He wasn't even in the car. I bet he wished he had the DW on his rental. |
OK, so you supposedly collected a $1000 deductible for the person who got sideswiped in the parking lot. Guess what? If it was his own vehicle, he would have had to pay that $1000 deductible, too. Correct? Don't try to respond that you have more of a chance to dammage a rental than your own because you may be unfamiliar with it. That would be like saying when you decide to purchase a new vehicle, you will most likely wreck it within the first few days. Bullshit.
You say that you hate your job 70 percent of the time. Don't feel sorry for you one bit because you are too big of a pussy to step out and make a better life for yourself. The guys picking up your garbage outside your apartment are making way more money than you. How does that feel?
