One thing I forgot to mention is credit card coverage. While some are excellent such as AMEX gold and platinum or Diners club some are not. There are a lot of rules and stipulations if you use your credit card to cover the vehicle.
Most will not allow a secondary driver.
Most limit the vehicle you can drive. You can not get a caddy or a truck or high end suv
Many cover only outside what your insurance will cover which is great but you still have that claim
If you do not have insurance many will not cover you at all
They only cover 10 to 14 days of rental after that you have no coverage and if you didn't report the accident within this time you are not covered
Debit cards are not credit cards and do not have any coverage.
There are many more, too many to go into. These are just the ones I have come accross and had to explian to a pissed off customer.
On the flip side like I said AMEX gold, platinum and titanium will cover you for most anything the coverage getting better as you go up in card. If you have a diners club you are worry free. Not much they don't cover  |
