I have a couple more to add to your list: 1. "Never overpromise, always overdeliver" (though we seemed to always do the exact opposite) 2. Having to call a locksmith Monday morning because the customer dropped the car off Sunday night and locked the keys inside ("I thought you guys had a spare set!") 3. Even though you have a specific desk, constantly finding yourself sitting at someone else's to check in a customer because another trainee is sitting at yours 4. A drawer crammed with Lost 'n' Found items, the majority of which are bulky Zack Morris (think Saved by the Bell)cellphones, pacifiers and cassette tapes of music NOBODY likes. 5. Putting the ozone machine in a car that smells like weed. 6. The term "LOFR" 7. "Upgrading" a little old lady from a sedan into a cargo van. 8. Being held hostage at a customer's home because your boss promised you'd be able to "deliver" the vehicle when in fact, you will ask the customer to give you a ride back to the office...but this customer doesn't want to. 9. Trying to find a pick-up address that's impossible to find, and when you get there, the customer has less-than-friendly dogs. 10. Those stupid walkie-talkies ("What's your 20?") 11. Going to Office Depot to buy those bags of cheap bulk candy and mega-cans of bathroom air freshener. 12. Getting chastised for selling the Personal Accident Insurance but not the Damage Waiver ("That's going to mess up your percentage") On a funny note, Enterprise's website has a "Day in the Life" of a management trainee, but nowhere does it mention washing cars in skirts when it's below freezing or trying to force the full boat on a customer so you don't get written up. |
