This is the wrong arguement your picking to fight. This seems like a simple misunderstanding from the customer to the branch. In this case the area manager is a dumb ass for trying to charge this guy $500 for a simple mistake that could be fixed for free! I do agree what with your saying about customers not listening though. I honestly don't think that happened in this situation.
