Well, the truck was substantially damaged on the driver's side rear end and, during the walk through, the rental lady said that such damage was common to trucks because they tend to get "beat up" during use. Naturally, I didn't believe this, and I had her list it clearly in the contract I signed.

Upon returning the truck a week later, they proceed to give me crap about the truck damage. I pull out the contract and show them that it's clearly marked. And no, I didn't sign a damage report.

Now, I get this bill in the mail today for $1600 in damages, all of which they said I caused, and all of which are CLEARLY visible on the contract I signed when I first took possession of the car. I've tried several times to get someone, ANYONE, in loss control or even a manager to no avail.

Anyhoo, where should I go from here? Should I get a lawyer and, if yes, where do I find one that deals with this sort of thing?

Thanks for your help, folks.
That's too little money for a lawyer. It only costs $75-$100 to file a small claims lawsuit. File it tomorrow as soon as the couthouse opens. Don't forget to file an Attorney General consumer affairs complaint. If you tell me what state you are in, I can probably find a webform for you to fill in. I have done this with other companies and got good results.
