"Part of my ability to dismiss the firearm incident my have to do with my upbringing. MY family includes plenty of ex-marines and law enforcement so I grew up around guns and fired my first when I was around four years old. A gun can't hurt anyone by itself."
-I understand that guns aren't that big of a deal to you, but I'm sure they are to most parents that have a shred of common sense. Guns don't kill people, people kill people. Well, that is true, but don't ya think that a 5 year old reaching in the glove box out of curioisty and finding a loaded 9mm is not QUITE the same as a full grown adult finding it. The adult is more likely not to play with the trigger while he points it at himself. Point being, I'm sure the lady would like everyone to grasp the seriousness of what could have happened. You seem not to take it seriously because of your early introduction to weapons.
