The only way truck gets business is by dropping their pants on rates and using their overworked MT's to deliver to Nowhere, OH. Good luck in that division!!!!
Well, I certainly agree that things in truck are going in the shitter - but looking at the delete lot is not a good indication of this. Actually, the biggest delete time of the year for truck is Jan - March, so this may actually just be a sign of a large fleet and not bad times.

Nevertheless, things DO suck in truck as I can attest personally. I worked in a different group, but reading these threads is like deja-vu! It's like Minnick were MY GTM!! ARRGHH!

Penske and Ryder were all too happy to let us have the crappy 1-2 day rentals and beat the snot out of us on the longer-term renters. We got most of the deals, but the trade off was that we had to sacrifice virtually all the profitability. We were probably making no more than 2 or 3 cents on every dollar. Growth went WAY down in years 2 and 3, and actually was negative right before I left. Pisser of it is that they actually let the guys who BUILT truck leave! These are the guys who started the damn thing and who have ALL the knowledge of the vehicles (believe me, a commerical truck is NOTHING like a car, and if you treat them like cars, they will make your life miserable).

I have seen no less than 6 ERAT trucks broken down on the side of the road since I left, and even though I know we had break downs when I was there, I can't help but wonder how good their maintenance is now that so many good people have gone.
