Thank you for your help I received a call from the recruiter yesterday for an interview today. She advised me to do my research of the company, be prepared for the interview, and to wear a suit. Being told this didn't impress me as those are all basic interview guidelines. I researched the company site for a few hours last night - lots of information. However I had my doubts because the more I read the more it sounded like and "info-mercial". I then did my Wikipedia research for a more "neutral" overview. The first thing I notice on the Wikipedia site is that they are requesting the information be rewritten because it sounds like an advertisement. And that it does. However, the information appeare to be credible up to the point that I read about this site and the language suddenly turned to near slander. So, off to this site I went to find out what all the fuss was about. Oh my. I'm very glad that I did. I don't believe I've ever seen such a site about any company before. Some posts seem very sincere, others downright slapstick comedy. Overall though it has been enough to make me cancel my interview. This was NOT a simple decision. I've recently relocated and seemingly into a VERY tight job market. I'm at a low point in job hunting and really need the money, but I will not exchange the possibility for a nice career/personal life balance for what I've learned on this site. I wouldn't dare think about washing a car in one of my suits. Back to "stage one" I go in the job hunting...but thank you all again. Now I have to figure out a way to tell my spouse... |
