As a matter of fact, he was awesome to hang out with at happy hours and such after work. I can't tell you how many times Baker and I closed down the bar together on some random ass Wednesday night after a Happy Hour (also, a great drunk driver).
But - that was after work. I will have to agree that as an area manager, he was absolutely a nightmare to work with. I was one of BB's managers 571 for 9 months and had pretty good success at 5712/571A (#3 office ytd in the group when I left, with two #1 monthly postings). Was success good enough for BB? Not a chance in hell. Baker needed to have everything done his way, and as posted before, if you expressed thoughts of yours that were different - he dismissed you immediately. This is coming from tons of experience.
Inevitably, Baker knew this was going to be his downfall....but that was just the way he was and he wasn't going to change. Honestly, you have to respect him for that. My career at ERAC was the same way. I did what I did and knew eventually it was going to catch up to me. I just rode the bull for as long as I could. Basically, I just want to say goodbye to Brian. I'm not sure if you read this site, but if you do, you had a good career and I commend you for it - even if you were an asshole.

Best of Luck,
Paul Avery

PS - I'm still waiting for my copies of The Sopranos and The Wire

You were shady as hell, Paul. Eventually it all catches up to you. Everyone who pushes the envelope get their day eventually it seems.
