Default Failing E and Google Relationship?

What kind of a search engine optimazation does this website have with Google and Yahoo? I noticed if you Google certain people's names, the number one position on Google refers you to this site. Does the administrator have an agreement with Google and/or Yahoo?

The same thing happens if you google someone's MySpace name. The result you are referring to is not unique to www.failingenterprise.com

Every night our web server generates and sends a complete "Site Map" to both Google and Yahoo, listing every page and link and indicating relative priority. Google currently indexes about 100,000 pages here.

How do you get such high placement on Google? Isn't that expensive?
