Do you see many people with their names as user names?? If so do you really think they are real? When you register you WILL still be anonymous. Admin is also anonymous...the board is set up very well to keep your anonymity. The point of registering is not to tell the world who you are. It is so when you are posting we know what you have said in the past and so we don't respond to one of the other dozens of unregistered users thinking they are you. All these unregistered users make the forums completely confusing and sometimes pointless. You kind of get my drift here?

Admin,

I agree that the current employees need to maintain their anonymity. As has been suggested repeatedly, they are the ones who need to vent most, and yet have the most to lose, seeing as how they work for Big Brother Incarnate.

I signed up after I left the company, but I also feel that my handle and my info are sufficiently protected. I'm also incredibly careful about what I reveal about myself in these posts. My reasons are pretty sound; it's been awhile but I'm still draining the green koolaid from my system, and loss control is a sub-community of E...therefore it'd be fairly easy for anyone who knows what they are doing to figure out my identity. If I felt the need to say more about myself, I would. I think anonymity is controlled mostly by the person doing the talking.

I chose to register because I have a base of knowledge beyond rental (i.e. E's loss procedures, collections procedures, repair guidelines, etc.) and felt that I should contribute my knowledge to help customers in the future. I couldn't do that by callingmyself "User0001" etc., but I could by calling myself ExLossControl.

I like the idea of allowing anonymous posts in the "I Currently Work" fora...but perhaps the rest of the fora could be more beneficial, ideas could flow easier, and more constructive conversation could occur if everyone was at least able to identify each other.

It sounds to me like Admin is making as much accommodation as he can to allow for anonymous, yet registered, posting.

I'll remain a member of the community regardless.

Thanks for your use of the proper Latin plural of "forum". Wow!

Thanks for a good post, also. I'm still mulling this over and want more conversation on the subject.

I think you should do it admin.

Confidentiality is retained even though we are registered. I believe this will make for more discussion and less insult hurling etc.

Kudos GP50 on selling your current company on your pimp BCAM skills. BCAM is a waste of time and a bulls@%t position.

I have a log on name and I post anonymously as well. I am no longer employeed, but I know a lot of people at the company and don't feel comfortable with them knowing that I have some conversations here. The reality is, I'm sure ADMIN has the ability to link IP addresses and determine who we are...if it came down to it (legally), but I like being able to shield my posts from the uncomfortable reality that I am speaking more truth than my friends might want me to.

Just my two cents....

Chuck Norris registered his beard with Failing Enterprise.com. The server nearly crashed once it discovered who was registering.

Fair enough, but keep a few things in mind:

1. I've never revealed an IP address to anyone, ever, and I don't plan to.

2. From what I've been reading about the legal cases, it would be fairly difficult for Enterprise to get a court order demanding I release an IP address. And even then, I would fight it and would be very public about it and it would drag out for months, so I doubt Enterprise would want to get egg on their face in this way.

3. If you're really worried, there are lots of ways to mask your IP address when you come here, such as www.anonymizer.com, using Tor onion routing (it sounds funny, but it's really cool and effective), or many other commercial products. For something like $20-$40/year, you could cloak yourself very effectively.

I had to change one of the configuration options for the discussion board software. There's a checkbox for "Allow registration of Chuck Norris' beard". I probably overlooked it during the initial configuration, but it's checked now so you're good to go. I'm sure I speak for all of our members when I say we'd be delighted to have Chuck Norris' beard as a member and would be proud to welcome him to our online community.

Chuck's beard thanks you. A roundhouse kick was just avoided.
