ERAC's RACIAL DISCRMINATION

Enterprise allows something that if any lawyers knew about and could find enough witnesses to support it, they would sue ERAC right out of business. I'm sure it is not a spoken company policy, but management from assistant to area manager encourage employees to charge higher rates and to be more aggressive on dub to minority customers. The feeling is that minorities, especially Hispanics, may not have as good of a grasp of the English language, let alone have knowledge of their insurance policies, to be able to make an informed decision on protection products. In addition, African Americans and Hispanics are known to be less likely to have a credit card or access to the discounted internet rates, therefore are assumed to have fewer options as far as company to rent from or knowledge of pricing/access to information. Employees are encouraged to get full "rack rate" plus $10 for unlimited mileage. Assistants and branch managers encourage the "tee them up" mentality whenever a minority or group of minorities enters the office, which is far different than when a white person enters the office.

Do you ever wonder why retail rates aren't posted in the stores? Sure they can vary based on time of year and availability, but this is another reason and I have witnessed it and participated in it because my boss told me to. Anyone else out there with similar experiences?

You are 100% correct. Unfortunately, this type of racial discrimination is hard to prove even though we all know it goes on in branches every day. Ever notice how everyone in the office trips over themselves to help a Hispanic or black couple but turns tail when a 40ish white male or female comes in? The best groups to rake over the coals are blacks, hispanics, and younger people (under 30). Asians are way to hip to dub or upsells and most white males are too. You do have a chance at the dumb soccer mom though whose husband does everything for her financially since she doesnt earn any money, she doesnt know the value of it. But yeah, getting back to the point, ERAC does prey on minority customers more than whites.

My branch manager told me to "tell callers we have Altimas if they sound black. 'They' like Altimas. I'm not racist, that is just how it is." She also told me I should "push" black renters on their insurance coverage because, "they tend not to be responsible."

I used to tee up a Mexican lady back in the day... $109.99/day for a buick lesabre (non-flashy and no temp license plates) and $24.99 for coverage and .25/mile after 150 per day. And I was the assistant manager...

Oh, I knew she was a coyote running illegals in it for $1000-$1500 a head, so it was an acceptable cost for her. I found this out when she tried to hire my lot attendant to make runs because he was African-American and, in her politically correct eloquent words, said "they (border patrol) don't look for people like you to be running."

Had to pay the rent... If the vehicle got caught, three weeks to get it back from impound. Best to make it worth my while. She was a once a month cust for 3-4 days each. Call it a "calculated" risk. Incidentally, in this branch, the Latinos sought me out for rentals, not the other way around.
