I posted my story on another forum, but I thought I should at least add another enterprise scam to this thread. To make a long story short, Enterprise is trying to bill me for a tiny scratch. I got a bill claiming it took 20 hrs labor!! I found out from someone who wants to be unnamed, exactly how much enterprise was billed by a local body shop for the scratch. Of course enterprise charged me more than they were charged !! When I confronted Sue Skiba from lost control, she flat out lied to me. The more she lied, the more she became angry. The district manager ( I will post his name soon) was equally as arrogant and deceitful. How many other people are they doing this to ? I am going to personally take Sue S and the district manager to small claims court . Enterprise should fire employees like this. They have alot of great people, but like any organization, they have some that are dishonest. These people should be terminated !

I don't think you can take them to small claims court (the people). The company is charging you. You can only sue the company to get the money back (damages). I think you need civil court to try to sue the employees for "breaking the law". From reading the posts, it sounds like you just need to work up the chain, complaining to the next manager untill it gets resolved.

Read your contract. It should have a clause that outlines your responsibility for damages and usually states that you will pay the company for the cost of the repair, no more and no less for that item. Here is the catch. It is likely that you are also responsible for loss of use, diminished value, and administrative fees. Hopefully, the invoice you received from ERAC lists the items separately. If that is the case, and the actual damage amount is more than what they paid for the repair, you should pursue it. But, it has to be clear that they are specifically charging you more than they paid for the damage repair. 20 hours seems like a lot for a scratch. It is possible there was more to it than met the eye. I would also investigate the possibility that there is something unusual going on between the body shop and the ERAC location. The body shop could be inflating that r.o. to make up for some other repair to a different car. If you have pictures, perhaps you could visit a repair shop and ask for an opinion. There have been lawsuits in the past targeting this practice. I cannot remember the rental company, but I believe that one lost a suit for overcharging damage repairs and a large punitive award was given to the plaintiff back in the mid to late 1990s.

Is it customary for a renter's insurance company to negotiate a repair bill downward? And is it customary for a damage claim to be settled 4 weeks after an incident?
