To Jessica

First off you talk like a complete moron. That doesn't help your case or make anyone feel bad for you.

Secondly I worked there for a year and absolutely hated it. That being said I put most of the blame on you here. The Damage Waiver is garbage, but didn't you think for 1 second that maybe you should drop off a $20,000 car to the proper people instead of just at a body shop? That car is your responsibility. The contract you signed is rock solid and you will (and probably) already have had to pay for the damages.

And stop with the "I'm a poor college student" BS. No one cares. College is a choice and a privilege.

good grief thats a freaking book! i only read a bit but here is where you went wrong:

1. $10 a day covers any car, any driver, any age. your policy is taylored specifically to YOUR car value, driving record ETC. erac doesnt have time for that. secondly people usually rent our cars for a road trip! not to park at home. since they are driving more than usual, more risk goes with it and more price!

2. if you rented a movie from blockbuster and went to return it only to find them closed and the ice cream place next door says, "its ok, you can leave your DVD with me, ill take care of it... "

would yoU? hell no! thats essentially what you did.
bodyshops often tell customers BS like that just to get you out of their hair.

3. grow up and accept the fact you didnt check out the car yourself! thats your job, not mine. its your job to inspect it when you pick it up, my job to inspect it when you return it. we usually help you but hey, we arent perfect. thats why its your responsibility

4. lastly cut the "im a poor college student" line. how bogus? there are real poor people out there with real problems like how to put food on the table. you are already a step ahead. i put myself through school so dont act like you are special

5. please cut the woman bullshit too. i think that was someone else but half our managers and employees are women. that was a valid excuse in the 50s, not anymore. and i caught a woman at a place of business next to us applying nail polish to a car to cover up some scratches so yeah just drop that whole line

It's not her fault that her parents sheltered her too much from the real world. We are a product of our upbringing, and you can't learn all of life's lessons by that age, nor from a book.

My wife sheltered our son from the realities of life until he learned on his own when his cell phone got stolen in the high school gym. His first experience of being ripped off in the world. My wife and son didn't even tell me about it for 3 months probably because they realized I was right... you have to be vigilant in this world. And as a parent one of your duties is to bring your kid up to speed on what to watch out for in life. Blame her parents, not her.
