re: discounted waiver it's Discounted because it's on a Calendar day basis. But not all insurance rentals have discounted DW, and further, a LOT of employees in my experience did not offer the discounted rate. Either way - you don't get waiver because you're protecting yourself from enterprise fraud.

Dude, stop drinking the green kool-aid, put the glass down....I work for ERAC amd I know that little plactis thing he is talking about, that piece of crap always falls into the dash, and is it VERY easy to fix, all they have to do is pop out the radio, and push the plastic light thingy back in....15 min tops...no parts needed

These kind of things go missing all the time on these cars. I would just ask to speak the the superiors and let them know that they want you to pay for this. Most branches don't care about that missing piece. It costs just a few dollars. Push hard enough, but be friendly, and they won't charge you for it. I never did when I worked at ERAC.

Aquestria, If you rented the car in CA, then tell the Loss control person that you didn't cause the damage and that you're not responsible because the contract does not indicate any place in the picture that you could even document "the condition" of the plastic panel. But most importantly since this missing panel is not due to collision, vandalism, or willfull, wanton, reckless conduct then they cannot pursue you for the loss as per C.C. 1936.

Wrongo, I charged a customer for replacing a carpet in a rental. He had a bucket of paint spill all over the back floor. Something like that is noticeable.

When I worked at ERAC we were told not to look through the interior of the car with the customer before the rental went out because they were not responsible for the interior unless it came back extremely dirty and needed to be detailed. As one of the posts stated there is no place on the contract that lists the interior of the car and there isn't a place to "ok" the interior at all.

Fuck! Just use your common sense. Call Vehicle Repair and ask them if its ok if a customer does "anything" to the interior of a car. And if they do anything that can't be cleaned or detailed if that's ok. I mean didn’t you ever charge a customer a detailing fee if the vehicle came back disgusting? Eventually that car will end up on a used car lot. If you wouldn't buy it because of defects in the interior then Joe customer won't either with a few exceptions. You don't need a box or check mark to note interior vehicle damage, genius. Sounds like you were an MT and as such probably weren't aware that before cars go to auction, if required, they are sent to the body shop to do any last minute repairs, including the interior. And chances are that hit your manager’s wallet. So unless your group was working on a different system, your manager was either ignorant or stupid. We would nail people for cigarette burns all the time. Charged a guy once because his CD got stuck, and he mangled the CD player trying to get it out.
