Default Dent below bumber - LOOK BEFORE RENTING

This is a done deal but I'm posting this in case this is an ongoing scam and to warn other renters (from any car rental company). I see at least one other recent post with a similar issue. After renting a vehicle the office said we returned the car with a dent UNDERNEATH the front bumper. I am positive this did not occur while we were in possession of the car, but we signed the contract and we have to pay. Lessons learned: (1) ALWAYS examine the car before renting (and check under the bumpers) (2) DO NOT do business with Enterprise. I'm sure this is the result of an unscrupulous employee taking advantage of the fact that we didn't do a thorough examination of the car. THAT won't happen again...

I am currently working for Hertz and just about everything said on this website relates to Hertz employees as well. One positive as far as being the customer with Hertz though is that we dont take mirrors around the cars, shit we dont even do vehicle inspections half the time. We will only write an accident report for obvious damage, not tiny dents, dings, and scratches.

I love this website by the way... i can relate to everyones comments completely as Hertz is just as bad of a place to work as erac. Words of advice... get the hell out of this business and work for a company that takes care of its employees, pays well, and runs its business ethically, and yeah rewards you for earning your hard-earned degree. Everyone out there working as an MT youre kidding yourself if you think Enterprise, Hertz, etc is a career move.

I am currently interviewing for a great new position with a solid company and cant wait to get the hell out of Hertz!

I had the exact thing happen to me. They wanted to charge me thousands of dollars for a dent beneath the bumper. The dent was not visible unless one crawled beneath the car. I only had the car for a day, definitely didn't put the dent there but they tried to charge me for it.

Along the same line:

I work for Enterprise. A couple of weeks ago, I rented a car to a woman, and due to a porter shortage, I washed the car myself. We're in the deep south here, so I always run the AC when I'm vacuuming a car. Well, she returned the car a couple of days later because the AC wasn't working, and sure enough it was blowing warm air. We did a switch out and took the car to a shop. Turns out a rock had ripped through something (I'm not going to pretend to know the mechanics) and that was the cause. The woman refused to take responsibility, but it had to be her fault.

I speak only for myself here, but I tend to let a lot of things go when I'm checking in a vehicle. I know things happen. But when something is this big, and obviously was the customer's fault, I can't let it go. I believe in CDW for short-term rentals because I have rented for personal reasons and had a valet back the car into a concrete pilar. Of course, I had to take out waive b/c it was an employee rental, but I would have much preferred to pay 12.99 than $250 or whatever it would have cost to fix that car.

WE'RE NOT ALL CROOKS!! Some of us actually care about our customers and want to help fill a need in their lives. I really enjoy helping the newly weds get a nice car to go on their honeymoon (I get them a full tank and waive the gas) and I love getting grandma a safe vehicle to go visit her grandkids up north (with a five-day weekend special). And when Bubba comes in because his work truck is in the shop and his insurance company will only pay for an ICAR, I put him in a truck because that's what I would want someone to do for my family.

My branch sits at 80 ESQI. We are one of the most profitable in our group. Don't let some bad apples ruin it for everyone.
