Default FREE NEW TIRES

Say you need new tires for your car.

Go down to your local ERAC branch and rent a car with similar tires and low miles. Go to walmart and pay 20 bucks to switch out the tires. Return car and they will never notice.

The same thing works for transmissions, etc.

Most legitimate garages won't do any work on your car without proof of ownership. I caught a renter doing that awhile back. The dumbass went to a shop we used for oil changes and tires. They called me about the situation. Needless to say charges were pressed.
Some shady places probably would do what you asking though.

I guess you could always remove the wheels from the rental and take them down in the trunk of your car.

Definitely DON'T go to a place like wal-mart or costco.
ONLY goto a shady no-name shop OR if you have the time, do it yourself.
ALSO, if your planning on switching the rims too, then return it to another office.

Someone pulled this on an extremely new Silverado once at my branch. The truck had a blowout with only 450 miles on it and it then the garage discovered old tires and rims. No one ever found out who did it (it could have one of three rentals or an employee).

I work in an urban branch. I've seen everything go missing--tires, air bags, seats, you name it. One renter had a history of doing this but we never could prove it. One day, the guy stole the leather captain's chairs from a Windstar minivan. He swore that they were not there when he rented it. When we billed his CC $850 for new seats from a Ford dealer, he offered to return the seats, saying he "forgot" that his brother had taken them out to haul some things. In typical ERAC fashion, we took the original seats back and returned the new ones to Ford. However, the guy and his brother are both on the DNR list for that little stunt.

In my area, remarketing noticed that someone had stolen airbags from at least five Mercury Grand Marquises. But since the thief would patch up the wheel, it when unnoticed by many branches.
