Default ERAC is unethical

My girlfriend rented a car from ERAC and was involved in a hit and run (she was rear ended, not her fault and it was MINOR) and the Bitchface ERAC manager told her that she would have to go though her insurance no exceptions and the damage looked like it was in excess of $1000. I saw the damage and you could barely see it. She took the car to a body shop before she returned the car and told the guy what happened and he gave her a quote of around $200. He also said that ERAC is notorious for placing bloated claims on peoples insurance for minor damage and then keeping the money and never repairing the cars and then continuing to rent out the cars they never repair! I will do whatever is in my power to prevent people from doing business with Enterprise rent a wreck. I hate Enterprise.

If ERAC goes through your insurance, wouldn't the insurance company have to look at the car before they paid anything? I don't think they'd just pay whatever ERAC said the total was. Second of all, it doesn't matter how the damage got there, she is still responsible. If someone borrowed your car and returned it with damage but said "It wasn't their fault" wouldn't you still go after them for the money to repair the car?

The insurance company is going to have their own inspection and assessment done to get an estimate for the damage. The Body Shop guy probably got burned by ERAC not paying a bill but if an insurance company just takes a random estimate from ERAC then they are idiots. They usually get their estimates from the Body Shop. Either way if there is damage upon return REGARDLESS OF FAULT then the renter is responsible. Sorry homie.

Your the idiot customers I have to deal with every day!!! I cant believe you could possibly think that you could take a car, with no damage, return it with damage, and not think you are responsible! Hello WERE NOT A NON PROFIT ORGANIZATION!!!! I dont think we have been around for 50 years by not collecting for damage. Think with your head.

I have been lied to by ERAC so many times I cannot even count anymore. They lie about pickup times, they lie about rates, they lie lie lie lie lie lie lie. I am never going to rent there again. Only scumbags would even consider a career there.

I feel confident that you have a great job...where you never stretch the truth...and are always on time...are they hiring? The truth is YES...they have to lie...because of crazy customers who (1)show up 3 hours late expecting their car to be parked out front and full of gas, or (2)don't bother to show up...or call and cancel, or (3)don't pay attention to the rental agent on the phone when they give you specific details about what they MUST bring in to qualify to rent...and then lo' and behold...they don't have everything they need...but they will be right back with it, just as soon as they can pay a bill on time or have insurance in their name or the right address on their drivers lic., or(4)don't understand thet the DEBIT card that your bank gave you that IS associated with your checking account IS in fact a debit card...not a credit card. You are right...it's all their fault.

Any customer who doesn't listen to what cdw will do for them in case damage should happen deserves to pay for all the damages. If people just listened rather than say something stupid then none of this non sense would ever happen. ERAC says if you purchase our cdw then you don't have to take any responsibility for the condition of our car, no deductable, no claim. Idiot customer says no im covered. Idiot customer returns car damaged and doesn't understand that they are responsible for the damages and then blaims a billion $ company built on Jack Taylor's founding values for their loss.
Get real!

You know what I think would help...

if you know the customer is... "an idiot" then help make them NOT an idiot.

I didn't know that I needed extra insurance because i didn't consider the whole "scratches" scenario" I thought my full coverage was fine. It wasn't really explained to me why I needed extra insurance...I ended up adding it in reconsideration once a friend of mine explained what it did... but shouldn't I be explained this before I leave the lot?

I work in retail and when I offer someone a "discount" card people regardless will say no ...it's an automatic customer habit because we're used to having people try and take advantage of us. But sometimes this card would help save them a LOT of money on thier purchase... I go the extra mile to SHOW them the savings and most of the time then they comply and if they still refuse, then yeah i feel no remorse for charging them full retail price haha.

But I just think sometimes part of good customer service is taking the time to explain to the average idiot customer how things work. "if you get any scratches on this you'll have to pay your deductible...for this small fee you can save that trouble...and trust me, scratches happen more often than you think..."

For the first time renter, I would have LOVED if someone would have explained it to me that way... too bad. :(
