that totally depends on your insurance policy with your personal car insurance. in most cases, people don't have the no deductible policy with windshield damage, and in most cases, if its just a chip repair, there is no charge, however, if the repair was larger, ie they had to replace, then there is a charge.

I rented a car from Enterprise for three days when my car was in the shop due to damage from being rear-ended. When I picked up the car, I was told that I needed to provide a credit card as the other driver's insurance company did not approve to direct bill the charges. As I usually do, I inspected the car (noting one scratch) and declined insurance from Enterprise. When I received a call that my car was ready to be picked up at the body shop, I returned the rental. The agent who checked the car noticed a small dent on the hood of the car and proceeded to write an accident report. The dent showed no evidence of a scratch, but when she pointed to the spot, I could see a slight indention. I honestly believe that the dent was more likely to have been present when I rented the car than to have occurred during the three days that I had possession of it, as I had not driven it much and had not noticed the dent until it was pointed out to me. I feel that Enterprise was so aggressive in this matter because I did not accept their insurance. By the time that I returned the car to Enterprise, they had received permission to direct bill the insurance company that was responsible for the collision damage to my personal auto, so I did not receive the benefit of the insurance that I would have from using my credit card. I feel so stupid for not considering the loss of coverage that I had by having these charges direct billed. In the long run, I may end up having to pay more to Enterprise than the cost to have repaired the damage to my own car from being hit. I suppose that I should not have taken my car in for repairs until the other driver's insurance company had agreed to pay the cost of providing a rental car and insurance on the rental. What a scam!!

1. Did you inspect the vehicle before leaving the branch? 2. Did you sign, stating you agree to the condition of the vehicle? 3. Are you actually complaining that after 1 and 2 you came back with undocumented damage and you feel they 'looked harder' because you didn't buy waiver? |

Yes, I did walk around the vehicle before signing the required paperwork. I did not notice the indention in the hood, though, until the agent checking the car in pointed it out. Note, this was not a scratch, but an indention in the hood. I believe that it is far more likely that I didn't see the dent during my initial inspection than that it occurred while the car was parked at my home or office. I can say for certain that nothing came in contact with the car while I was driving it. "Aggressive" aptly describes the approach of the agents when I returned the rental. Would they have been as aggressive if the repairs had been coming out of their funds? I don't think so.

To add another bit of clairty to you experince on the indention. Typically if you buy the coverage the agent hands you off to the car quickly and I know most I talked with said "Dont worry about the damage, you have the coverage, your all set to go". Why does it happen this way, most likely the damage was there previously, overlooked on the return which it occured. If you take the waiver and dont inspect then I "surprise" discover it when you come back, say dont worry you had the coverage, we'll just write it up as unknown. This way I shuffle the repair off from being undocumented to LDW claim, it hits my books differently and really doesnt cost me as much (as far as my books go which determines how much I bank). So I keep renting the same car until either A) I get it passed off on LDW or 2) I tag someone with it that doesnt argue and just pays...

Honey, that is so true. I get the fake insurance every weekend. That way I can do anything to the car I want and the CounterCunts don't pay me no mind when I return it. Yes its fake insurance but also at the same time it removes any responsibility from my ass for what happens. I have no sympathy for the people that do not take the insurance, that's theys problem. __________________ Love, Your Favorite African-American Renter ----------------------------------- The word for today is REPARATIONS
