That is so dumb. Just take responsibility for your actions.

How would Merrill Lynch Visa know if you damaged the car or not?
They handle Visa disputes therefore don't they look into card charges?
There may be no evidence that you did the damage (other than the damage) but there's no evidence that you didn't?

Take responsibilty and pay the bill.

Customers are so retarded...

Occassionally we're wrong when we accuse you...but I've never seen any customer pay for damages we were wrong about....Loss control goes over the last 10 contracts and looks to see if it's been noted...and since more than one employee typically work at any particular branch...you can bet if it was there, someone would have noticed it.

More often than not, damages that are missed simply become an uninsured loss for the branch...we take it up the behind more times than not. On top of that, we will gain cars from other branches with damage...if the employees have any brains, they'll immediately OX the branch the car was gained from and that branch pays for the repair.

We hate having to write DX's on even the most retarded and hateful of our customers...it's a pain...because you people say the same thing everytime. I've worked at 6 different branches in 2 different states..."I parked it in my garage"..."I only drove to work and back"...well, you screwed up your personal car, that's why it was in the shop, if you were stupid enough then, what makes you think your intelligence has gained a couple of points in your favor?

It's amazing how many think there is this giant conspiracy about us...the reality is that I've worked with THOUSANDS of customers and have a much stronger basis with endless evidence for a conspiracty of inanity among customers...is there a secret convention you guys are a part of?

I rented a car Thursday from Enterprise in Virginia and returned it Friday. I had a bag of open dry cat food in the back seat that I removed shortly before returning the car. I had driven the car only to the tune of 2.5 gallons of replacement gasoline. I had not had any children or animals in the car. When I left the car the only thing remaining in the car were a few crumbs of dry catfood that had spilled out of the bag onto the back floorboard. The car was otherwise as clean as when I got it. Well, I got a phone message from the enterprise folks that they were charging me 50 bucks to clean the car because it smelled of cat urine and cat food and had cat food all over it. I called enterprise customer service and they seemed nice but said I would need to deal with the local branch and corporate offices. I then called my bank, and they said that Enterprise has been mentioned on some of the tv news shows regarding bogus charges, and the bank is revoking the charges from Enterprise charged on my credit card and cancelling and re-issuing my credit card. They said not to give Enterprise car rental a credit card or or a check - to go and pay them in cash or money order - and only pay what I owe them.

I'm so sorry to hear about your problem. I'm an attorney and I just helped my sister with a similar accusastion from that same company. Once they knew I was involved, they magically dropped recovery procedures. This was from their offices in Georgia. I'm considering a class action suit since this appears to be more than coincidental.

So what, you are a lawyer. Don't you think we have bigger lawyers than you at Enterprise? I think you are lying.

I was reading through the experiences and feedback posted here and it makes me very concerned. I rented a car last night that was given to me trashed (inside and out). The employee did a quick walk around the car and told me to look for problems. He did not observe the damages on the exterior until I pointed them out and specifically had to ask that he document this, he also did not write down a scratch that I had wiped dirt off of advising me that; "the car wash is not open so the outside is dirty." There was also not light on this side of the car. I had to exchange the car the following day because the inside had also not been cleaned and contained an array of offensive odors, stains, and rubbish (including an ashtray full of butts and a backseat covered in animal hair). When I returned the car to the nearest location I was advised of a ding in the windshield and a small dent on the side not originally documented (where I had wiped the dirt from). On his behalf and my own it was raining and dark outside, but he did not even use a flashlight when checking. I do not want to held responsible for pre-existing damage because I did not profread his work for him! I have been researching lawyers and related litigation against Enterprise since I left and I am looking for any advise people reading are willing to give.
