Default Fighting a questionable damage bill

I returned a car a few weeks ago and Enterprise found a small dent on the rear wheel well. Unfortunately I signed the documents they gave me (and never got copies of, as they said they would), and allowed them to charge the $500 deductible on my credit card.

I called Loss Control three times over the month it took them to get the bill to me, and only got through to a person once. He told me that I would get a call when the car was ready for repairs. Needless to say he never called back.

Yesterday the bill came, and besides the dent, there are several other charges for 'damage' or what basically looks like maintenance, totalling about $900. I think there are four possible problems with the bill:
1. Never got a call to say the car was ready for the shop.
2. Never authorized the repairs.
3. The contract with the shop isn't signed by me or any Enterprise employee. The signature and date field are blank.
4. The bill has several unrelated charges about things I was never notified of, including the front and rear doors, tail lamp, bumper, corrosion protection, and re-taping the moldings.

It seems like they are charging me for either past damages or regular maintenance. Can anybody offer any advice? Has anybody been in a similar situation?

This is an employee complaint and gossip site. Nobody cares about a stupid customers problem. Call David horowitz or Ralph Nader

Don't forget that Enterprise charges you for "down time" which is a computed daily charge they're loosing by not having that car available for rent, and administrative fees. I know for a fact that these charges can add $200+ to a repair bill. Also most insurance companies will not cover down time for the rental.

"Dub" is ERAC jargon for "damage waiver". You would have been free and clear if you had purchased this at the beginning of your rental. The best thing to do now is to lie and say your e-chimp never told you about it and raise holy hell over it. Good luck, I hope you come out on top.

knowing a lot about the loss control side of erac, you're argument will go nowhere. once you initial the car despription when you take the car out, you're done. you can piss and moan all you want, but erac turns over the SIGNED contract (which has more small print on it than you can imagine) right to your insurance company and they pay it. and guess what? if you don't pay erac your deductible, they turn you into collections and your credit rating takes a hit.

does erac intentionally miss damage sometime? probably. are you an idiot for "agreeing to the condidtion" of the vehicle without looking at it? YES, you are.

but i'm sure you're like all the rest. i'm sure you said "it was there when i got it."

pony up for the damage. erac will win one way or another.
