Cultures including America who believe weapons are the answer to peace are so misguided. Every society in the world who "bear arms" have violence rates exponentially higher than those where weapons are not part of the culture. In Canada, the majority of gun related violence is a result of cross-border guns. Having lived for a time there, guns don't even cross your mind. Guns are for cowards, and most criminals are cowards. How Primal and ape like must one be to find enjoyment in using a gun to kill something. Guns are designed for one purpose --to kill. I think we need to do a little evolving. Last time I checked, I could go to the grocery store to purchase my meat. And the old excuse is always, "well, if someone breaks in, I want to know I can protect myself". What a bunch of bullshit. How about no guns period. BTW, when was the last time you used your gun when someone broke in...exactly, never. Yet thousands of innocent people are killed every year because a gun was around. Kids accidentally playing with them, guns being stolen from people's homes, people in a fit-of-rage resorting to a gun to resolve their problems. If they didn't exist, people would have to find other ways.
Most of Europe and Canada have little to do with guns, and as a result have very few incidents comparatively speaking. America, and the Muslim world are ripe with millions of weapons. If Russia wasn't supplying Iran, and Iran wasn't supplying Islamic extremists, the wars in the middle east would be far better controlled. Instead you get a Vietnam situation with gorilla warfare. How could you ever possibly hope to "win" a war when your enemy looks like the common citizen you're trying not to kill in order to avoid criticism from the international community. It's a lose-lose situation. Muslim's do not think like American's. This utopian idea that we can bring them a better life is bullshit. "They" have to "want" a different life. They need to do a little "evolving" first. Once they mature from their primate ways and thinking, progress can be made. Why waste any more good American lives? Why continue to waste my tax dollars. We've secured the oil, fuck, let them kill each other if that's what they want. American's were killing each other in history -called the civil war. The Iraqi's are a few hundred years behind. While it shouldn't take them that long to catch up, we can't expect them to be like America tomorrow. It'll take at least 50-100 years. They'll have to do it. Just like us, they don't like people dictating to them how things should be. Let them figure it out through trial and error.
Imagine a bunch of Iraqi soldiers on every corner of every street in America. You'd want them out tomorrow. The Iraqi's don't want us there any longer. I was pro-war in the beginning, but this seems like such a waste of lives and resources and for what? No wonder the American dollar is at all time lows compared to other world currencies. Time to bring the benjamins back to the USofA. Cronkite was right, Katrina was the perfect excuse to bow out graciously. You don't have to make a big
PR event out of it. You don't have to advertise your intentions to the enemy. Just quietly start bringing them back. The administration can tell the major cable news networks not to make a big deal about it and within a year or two, we could be out. Sure fighting would increase in Iraq for a while once we pull out, but real progress won't be made until we do. Let's put the ball back in the Iraqi's court. Every kid must grow up at some point and move away from home. You can't be attached to your mother forever. Time for Iraq to grow up.
