Repo's are part of the job. Stop being a puss.
Bull shit! Unless you are a fucking repo man no employee should not be going to a customers house to repo a car. First of all, when an employee rents a car to a customer they are not required to bring a picture of their house to you. So when the customer does get down money and an employee has to do a drive by they don't know if the house is a fucking crack house. I know that many managers that I worked under would tell me not only to drive by the house, but even if the car wasn't there to knock on the door. If the person in their is on something, you don't know if their paranoid ass is gonna come out shooting. In my time that I worked for that piece of shit company let me give you some serious incidents that happened:
1. 5 armed robberies at 5 different branches
2. Bullets found in a car that was repoed by an old lady
3. One of the managers found a gun under the seat of a car they repoed the night before.
4. A customer threatened to kill all the employees at a branch because they owed the branch money. The branch manager tricked them into coming in, and when they did, repoed the car.
5. 2 employees went to a tow yard to pick up a vehicle and a guy came in with a gun, pointing it at the tow yard manager and everyone else, threating to kill them.
6. An customer pulled a gun hidden in a car on an employee
7. To me personally: a customer told me he wanted to drive away and have sex with me, when I was in the car showing him where all the options were...later I found his picture on a sex offenders registry.
8. a Manager telling an employee that if a customer owes money and they have to go repo a car that the employee who wrote up the contract HAS to do the repo!

And you say to suck it up, its part of the job. A police officer doesn't see this much action on a midnight shift! I am waiting to hear that an employee dies from doing a repo, because I guarantee it will happen.

Note that real repo men do it at the ass crack of dawn, many of them with weapons in their tow trucks as it is a very dangerous practice. I had to go on a repo with my branch manager on my first day at the branch! Think about going on a repo in the hood and a disgruntled customer comes out with intent to harm to get that car back? Is ERAC ever going to step up and contract this out to professionals, or is it going to have to result in someting grave happening to an employee to correct this? Just curious if this has ever crossed anyone else's mind...
Yes this crossed my mind! I only had to do this twice but both times were scary. One guy came out half asleep wondering WTF was going on. The other we were able to repo from some white trash without them knowing we were there. I was basically told to go snoop around the customer's house until the coast was clear. That's management training for ya!

Perhaps your BM should have done them then.

Does anyone know of any employees being attacked while on a repo?

Nothing like world-class training courtesy of ERAC!

Of course, sometimes risking life and limb on a repo is still preferable to being in the office, especially with phones ringing nonstop and nothing but two cargo vans on the lot.

Not at night though, after already putting in a 10+ hour day.
