They try it here in Oregon with the call center staff. Oregon's employment development dept is paying the unemployment with back wages as well. From what the state people are telling the employees Oregon is giving serious thought to encouraging a relocation by the green machine to another state. It seems there are three companies who all have "issues" that are the focus point of a covert probe currently underway. The trick in beating wreckerprise is challenge their attempts at blocking your rights. The are known for NOT participating in the third challenge. Frankly, they are attempting to downsize without any financial drain on them. Help them feel the pain by not backing down is my suggestion. Remember, if they are in denial about a statement made about them - they are upset that someone figured their shit out.

When ERAC laid me off in November they couldn't have possibly been any nicer about it. They gave me a decent severance package, gave me use of my company car for three weeks (with pay and benefits) after my last day and wrote me a good letter of recommendation. My HR Manager helped me file my unemployment paperwork and talked to the unemployment office when they tried to deny my benefits for three weeks due to a technicality. My RVP even called me a few times to check on me. My only gripe about the whole process is that I never received an explanation about why I was selected from among my peers to be laid off. My numbers were in the top third among my counterparts and there were many of them that consistently performed worse than me that stayed. The only reason I can think of is that I'm a bit more introverted than most of my counterparts and I wasn't golf buddies with the members of upper management that made the decision. Fortunately I am making significantly more at my new job and couldn't be happier. However, I am a firm believer in Karma and if I ever have an opportunity to repay the three members of ERAC upper management that made the decision to boot me I will not hesitate to pay them back for their "kindness".

Lone Ranger here. I am in complete agreement with Uncle Larry about fighting back. As a member of the Elite(smart) club of former Enterprise employees I do intend to get my "pound of flesh" but it will be with the pen and legally. Harassment and intimidation are not legal in any state that I know of as it is a Federal law. Enterprise continually labors under the concept they can blithely go about business badgering and bullying customers and employees at their will. Even the Roman empire, mighty as it was, fell.

I started with National and Alamo and was just let go from Enterprise. They stated I was "not taking ownership of the business." I was an assistant manager so how was I going to take ownership if I don't own the company?

It's ECRAP you're just supposed to act like you own the company you know take all the shit from the asshole customers and let the idiots that are above you put pressure on you to get their paychecks higher. If they let you go consider it the best thing they could have done for you, make sure you head to the unemployment office now and file a claim.
