Default Bomb Scare at Vanguard Car Renta Headquarters

This is an article from the Tulsa World of 5/4/2007. What do you think about it?

By Staff and Wire Reports

About 1,000 employees at two businesses in the Cherokee Industrial Park were evacuated Thursday after a bomb threat.

Someone called Vanguard Car Rental USA, 6929 S. Lakewood Ave., about 1 p.m. and said an explosive was in the building, Tulsa County Sheriff's Capt. Linda DeVoe said. The threat was not very specific, she said.

The company chose to evacuate 700 to 750 employees from the building, and sheriff's deputies responded to investigate. About 250 employees were evacuated from Verizon, which is north of Vanguard, DeVoe said.

Employees were allowed to go home.

Deputies took Shirley, the Sheriff's Office's bomb dog, through the building, but no explosives were found.

Deputies are investigating who placed the call.

Someone from ERAC may have done it as a joke.
