| I have rented from them many times, usually once a month or more and never had problems until now. This week I rented a car for a week and had the car for a couple of hours before it broke down. Luckily I was at an auto parts store getting parts for my personal vechile. The battery was dead, after spending 30 minutes on the phone with RoadSide Assistance, I was told that it would be 60 minutes before a service truck could get to me. So I wait and wait, and then a nice man from the auto parts store came and jumped the car off. As I left their parking lot the service truck called me and said they were there, I let him know that I had already taken a jump start from someone and that was over. So I am thinking ok the numb-nuts before me must have left the lights on or something and I went about my way (home). The next day I didnt go anywhere, and then on the next day (thursday) I had to go grocery shopping. It cranked and ran fine.................until I had spent alot of money and had a car full of groceries. The same thing happens again. So, I called the local branch and was told that I had to go through roadside assistance. This was at 3:23pm in Texas where it is HOT as HELL. I was told to stay in the car and the nice lady from roadside assistance stayed on the phone with me the entire time. She contacted the local branch and asked that they bring me another car since it was the 2nd time this had happen, she was told that he wasnt well staffed enough for that and that I would have to stay with the car until it could be towed then I would need to find a ride back over to the store to pick up a new car. The lady came back on the line with me and told me what had been said and then she called AAA and put in a dispatch order. I spoke with the dispatcher and she said it would once again be 60 minutes before a tow truck could get to where I was. Back on the line with the RsA rep, she tells me that there is no way that she is going to allow me to be stuck at the grocery store with a car full of groceries when this tow truck arrives to whisp away the car and leave me stranded. On a three way call this lady proceeds to call the local manager back and explains to him that I will not be left in the parking lot and that I have no way to get back over to his office. Once again he tells her that he is under staffed. She puts him on hold to speak with a supervisor and i guess he didnt realize that I was on the line with him the entire time. He was talking smack......I cant go get her she is 20 miles away, I dont even know where she is, what does she want me to do about it. He asked every employee in his office if they knew where the location was that I was at and 2 people replied with yes they did. When the RSA rep came back on the line, he told her that he was sorry he was too under staffed and he would call another location (that was 30 miles away) to see if they could come get me. I stayed on the line with the RSA rep while she contacted the "help desk" and made a report of everything that the local manager had said. She told me that something would be done about this and that I would not the liable for any of the rental balance. The help desk manager called in on my other line and I hung up with the RSA rep. The help desk manager confirmed all the information that the RSA rep had given him and assured me that this would be esscalated onto a corporated level. At 4:55pm 2 guys from the local branch show up with another car for me and help me transfer my belongings to it and sent me on my way. This morning in the 2nd car the check engine light comes on and I freaked out thinking O lord here we go again. I called the RSA and was transferred to the local branch where I was told that it might just be because "I" didnt tighten the gas cap. Only problem was, that "I" had not put gas in the car, it was full when I got it. He told me if I didnt feel comfortable driving it to bring it in a swap it out. So I go in to swap it out and I am accused of smoking in this car by one of the cashiers and then the manager stepped in. He says he was the one who had cleaned the car before I got it! When I got it there were ashes in the ashtray as well as a penny and a dime and there were crumbs in the seats. I told both of them that I did not smoke in the car nor had I ever smoked in one of their cars. My records of the numerous rentals could prove that. The manager took me outside and made a huge scene for all their other customers to see and I just let him rant and rave and yell in my face. Until he SPIT on me and that was enough!!! I snapped and went off on him, by this time it had drawn the attention of people at the nearby Whataburger. I didnt care at this point. The manager told the cashier girl to take my contract and close it out because I had breached the contract by smoking in the car and he told her "DO NOT GIVE HER A DAMN RIDE EITHER." I could not believe this guy!!! In the end I was charged for a weeks rental when I only had the car for not even 5 days and over 30.00 worth of unexplained taxes (unexplained because I was told to leave the property) and the 75.00 smoking fee. I ended up walking in a bad part of San Antonio Texas 4 miles to get home. I called the 800 number and demanded a corporate number and was given the number to the regional corporate office and was told to call on monday and talk to the Area manager. We will see what happens. If I dont get results from this guy I plan to publicly humiliate this company. |

| Thank you for your post, on behalf of those who hate ERAC, we are sorry for what you went through with this shithole company. Your experiences are quite common actually, hence the need for this website. I am hoping you get this resolved but if you don't I am hoping you follow through with that threat of humiliating these fucking e-chimps. Good luck regardless, we are all on the same side! __________________ "McCain will bring a lifetime of experience,Obama will bring a speech that he gave in 2002" -Hillary |

the renter is a hood rat, i'm guessing of caucasian descent. his pos rusted out truck was broke down, again, so he took his 250 cash and pay stub and rented a ecar "something cheap!" is what he woulda said. then the peckerwood drives to the junkyard to look for used parts for his car, leaves the lights on, and get's biligerant when he realizes his mistake. ERAC, leery of this dirtball from the get go, isn't too keen to help him out, esp when it's his obivous fuck up. In the middle of the day, booked to the gills, Mr.whitetrashcashqual isn't high on the list of priorities. I personally think it's funny, the thought of this fuckstick getting soo pissy with his white bread/donuts/soda pop welfare groceries getting warm and nasty lolololololollllllllllllolololollol!!#!@#!@#@#! I worked at erac for too long to believe fuckos like this guy. you know how it really went down roberta |

Uhhh....if you had read HER entire post you would realize that it was a female. Your obvious stupidity aside, let's suppose that you are right and that SHE really is a "hood rat", as you so succinctly put it. Does that make her any less entitled to be treated fairly than anyone else? Are you implying that had she been a 40-year-old briefcase-toting white man in a business suit that the service given to her might have been different? You are better than certain classes of people, and as a result you only need to provide adequate service to those elite few you are above you in social stratification...is that how it goes? By the way, those "elite few" would include just about everyone since you are a FUCKING RENTAL CAR GUY! What a loser. |

| Since when are you not allowed to smoke in ERAC cars? I do it all the time, and no one ever said anything to me about it. All ERAC cars I've had come with the smell of smoke as a standard feature. The exception was a brand new Impala with 80 miles on it. I didn't smoke in that because I wanted to enjoy that nice new car smell. |

do you really believe the story went down they way the poster said it did? i got too cynical with my tenure at erac, learned that most of these situations there is more to the story. and please don't call me a rental car guy, i shed that total quite a while ago |
