I had rent cars a couple of times from Enterprise. I got the second rent car at the office in Bothell, WA last January for four weeks.(12/31/2007 - 1/28/2008) I extended rental period a couple of times from 5 day to two weeks and up to a month. For the first time, when I extended it to two weeks, I went to the office and updated the contract paper including insurance coupon discount. (January 4, 2008) At that time the representative said I could change rental period at any time by phone. For the second time, I changed the rental duration from two weeks to a month over the phone. (January 10, 2008) I believed I would be charged based on the monthly rate because last October I heard at the other office the rental rate is automatically changed based on the rental duration but not previous document. A month later, I went to the office to return the car. In the office the representatives said they would charge with weekly base rate because the contract paper was made with weekly base rate. So I insisted I already changed the my rental period over the phone later and this should have been updated automatically. After all what they said was the four weeks rental fee with coupon discount was the same as the regular monthly rate the woman of the office said. So I paid off 4 weeks rental fee for $577.56 plus taxes (total $684.99 at weekly rate for Economy car) But after coming back home I found the monthly rate fee was one hundred dollars less than what I paid off ($503.49 plus tax / monthly rate). I contacted the local customer service but the gentleman didn't give the clear answer and instead he emailed to the manger of the rental office to contact me but no body called me back. Next week I called the rental office by myself and talked to the manager but he ignored my allegation and he said they charge based on the contract paper rather than latest phone call. Later I again emailed the customer service center twice but they never replied to me either by email or phone call and they never showed their policy. I have no idea why rental offices have a different policy. Unfortunately I still feel I was cheated. If anyone have a good answer, could you explain to me. James

Employees can change rates as they please, however, if no monthly rate was given at any point they dont need to give you one (this would go with any other rental company). It would have been purely a customer service courtesy on their part to given you the monthly rate. I'm sorry, but customers DO have to be responsible for asking for the discount. If you check over a period of a week, you will see that rates change constantly. The fact that you looked at the rental price at the end of the rental period makes a world of difference. You picked up the car when rates were high (holiday season coming to an end), and returned at a time where rates would have been dead low. Seems more like lack of communication on the part of the branch rather than ripping you off.

You may not have a warm fuzzy from the experience, but the rate was not terrible. The monthly rate you found later was probably during a lower occupancy time. When you picked it up, your base rate level was probably higher. Again, it's not a bad rate you received.

If there was any doubt how long you were going to keep your car at the time of rental than you should have mentioned that you may need to keep the car for one month, at which point they would have established a monthly rate. You received an average daily rate of ~$18, which is the insurance rate that should be charged for an economy sized car. There are no weekly of monthly rates for insurance rates, just the daily rate. Your so-called "policy" is on the rental contract that you signed stating how much Enterprise was going to charge on a daily basis and weekly basis, which you agreed to by signing the contract. The reality of the situation is that more than likely you misunderstood something and it is obivously the fault of Enterprise (sarcastic) as to your misunderstanding. Although I could try to explain the situation to you, you more than likely wouldn't understand it. Just take it for what it is and move on. You more than likely got a better rate from Enterprise than any other rental agency.

I hate customers like you. You come in agree to a price, tell us when you are returning the car and sign a contract. You then decide to keep the car longer and decide you want a different rate. Why is this negotiable? You signed a contract you knew what you signed, if not why did you sign it? Do you try this with your apartment lease as well?

James, grow up. You signed the contract, you agreed to the contract, so pay the money and stop crying. If anything why don't you buy a car? If you buy an airline ticket and then finded cheaper no airline will refund you the difference. What planet are you from?
