Default Enterprise Stole from me!

Help.

Six months ago, I was in an accident where I was not at fault. The insured's insurance carrier directed me to the local Enterprise to pick up a rental while my car was repaired. I drove it for a few days, returned it, all was well.

Now, some six months later - Enterprise took it upon themselves to debit my checking account for the full rental costs. NO call, no letter, no notification or communications whatsoever.

Apparently the "direct bill" that was approved between Enterprise and the Insurance company had an incorrect digit, so it was never paid.

They are very unwilling to give me back my money, even though I spent two days straightening out the whole thing - which was not my taks to do as I was not even the at fault driver and it wasn't my insurance company!

I understand your gripe but all is not lost. Send a copy of the bill to the at fault parties insurance company and they should repay you for the rental. There is some really crafty small print on the contract that says if the insurance company doesn't pay for whatever reason, you as the renter are responsible. I think it's crappy that the branch didn't call you and tell you what was going on though.

Good luck.

Though not at all surprising.

I agree send the bill to all the parties.

Also if you call the corporate office (314) 512-5000 and they will give you the fax number of anyone there (at least they used to). You may decide to fax someone over there with your concern. It may grease the wheels a bit as these disputes can be very time consuming.

This sucks. I cannot tell you how many times I would review clients files in the computer and find errors made by the ticket monkey, the long and short of the situation would be that the file would never get paid by the insurance company and really just create a hastle for the customer.

Just get a copy of the bill and send it to the responsible insurance company. They will pay you for the rental.

Just another tactic that the ARMS use to cut their bad debt and increase the commission check. I got yelled at the first time I asked if I should call the renter to let them know that I was going to hit their card. Knowing that it was a debit card was even worse since it usually caused a series of NSF fees. Usual response was "I don't care, just do it. Do have to tell you how to do everything."

Bottom line is all ERAC wants is their money. They will screw the customer to get it.

My record for was hitting an AMEX card to over 9K because the insurance company (this was a claimant) did not pay on three contracts over a 6 month period. Gotta love ERAC.
