I know of one assistant who left us for Hertz, but he wasn't happy there after he left either. I'd be blackballed if anyone even knew I spoke to him after he left. Both companies have work to do. __________________ "Intelligent Design, my ass. You were a mistake." |

| How about the branches that would give a cut rate deal, but then to boost CDW/DW sales they would make those rates possible only if the cus got the insurance. Saw it happen every weekend! Way too much flexibility with price-points. But hey, it's what capitalism is all about! |

| I worked for ERAC. What does happen to a walk in is that they are quoted 910 rates. However, the customer is told the only thing they have is a full size car. I have been in the airport waiting in line and overhearing the managers tell the customer that they only have full size cars. I tell the customer to call 800-rentacar from their mobile and not to tell the reservation clerk that they are at the airport and make a reservation for a compact or econo car. They get back in line and get what they want. I even offered a guy a drive to a local branch just so he get the appropriate car. I hate ERAC, however, my company has them as the one we use. |

| This post is absolutely right. They do gouge walk ins. Further, internet rates are almost always cheaper than walk in/over the phone rates. Also, keep in mind why you need the car makes all the difference. If your car is in the shop, have your agent call the office - you probably will get the insurance rate(which is usually a lot cheaper over a week or two period). "GP51 Weidner's Bitch" said that in group 51 you can't fleece walk ins. I HOPE THIS IS CORRECT. Because when I worked for group 51 2 years ago, it was highly encouraged to charge high rates to customers. In my region, the average rate for "successful" branches was 32/day or more dollars. For the offices I worked at(5 different ones), the break even rate was around 25 to 27 dollars a day. So, we were making about 150 bucks profit per car per month when we were around 32. Anyway - the point is, my offices were encouraged to fleece walk ins in order to get the rate above 30 to 32-35. And if my branch had good numbers, I was far more likely to get promoted even if I got those numbers fleecing walk ins. The highest "walk in" we ever had was in the 150 range. |
