Why has no one mentioned "cap prices." In my group we have a price cap, and we are not allowed to charge more than this price under any circumstance. This is to ensure that we are not damaging out brand name by gouging someone that is in need. Walk up rates can be higher, but usually only if we are sold out on NATRES. If you are running at 95%, why would you let one of your 5 left over cars go for anything less than you can get. It's called profit maximization. If someone is willing to pay the price, then it's fair. If you don't like it, move on, someone else will rent that Cobalt for $99/day. By the way, it's probably STILL less than Hertz's posted retail rate.

So tell me, what is the difference when reserving an airline flight in advance as opposed to a last minute ticket? You will probably be paying 2 to 3 times what everyone else paid. Why would not the same economics work for a rental car? I think the rental car company has more of a reason to charge more for a walk-in. It is limited supply. If there are three empty seats on an airplane, it is still going to make the trip. But you want to book one of the three seats available the same day? You will pay top dollar.

Enterprise employees lick their chops when a "walk in" comes in the office. They believe that if the customer is already in the office, they will be able to scare them into a higher rate. Wouldn't you think a company that practices honesty and integrity should have a set price for all their customers?

YES, my manager tells us to "get rate" on walk-ins, which is code name for rape this person in the ass with an inflated rate. The BEST is when customers in someone is "getting rate" from overhears another employee on the phone telling a customer a lower rate! You alway are supposed to quote the correct rate over the phone cuz you want to get them in the door......

No, that’s bullshit because it’s not a matter of a limited supply; it’s a matter of despair. They know if you walk in off the street they have you by the balls. You are already in the office, there is no need for a bait and switch, you walked into the lion’s den yourself. This just shows how shady and dishonest the business practices are at Enterprise. Some former managers wouldn't even give their MT's price guides, they would just tell them to "keep your IPE in mind, and get the most you can." I remember my former managers used to drool when they'd see a taxi drop someone off in front of our office. Those people are definitely desperate. To work at Enterprise you must learn to smile as you kill.

Sheesh... my old AREA MANAGER told us not to roll any walk-ins for under $40/day even when 910 told us an fcar was like $33... I was actually told to roll an AVEO @ $50/day once...

Yeah it might STILL be lower than Hertz... but it will probably smell like something died in it, it may have been over 9,000 miles since it had a LOFR, and the tires are probably balder than Michael Stipe. At least with a Hertz rental, you get quality.
