I browsed for awhile and didn't see what a car prep might do when they find something, so I'll post it right here. When I find something in a car, what I do with that item is determined by what it is. If its a garage door opener, it goes to the lost and found, or sunglasses or clothing or a cell phone, same thing. If its 5 or 10 bucks, well.. I've never found money in a car before but I sure would be tempted to pocket it. Most of what I find are old scratched up cd's, pens, unopened bottles of water, and a bunch of damn trash. If a customer leaves something in a car, it says they were careless, and if that car came back dirty as hell to us, then I might think twice before turning in a little bit of money or a cd i like. Treat us well by not destroying the car you rented, and you'll never miss a thing!

I had one customer accuse us of stealing his camoflouge frame glasses. His discription of them were "very cool looking". The more he described them the more i thought.."who the hell wants those pieces of crap." Customers can be the lamest people in the world sometimes.

I never gave anything back when I was an MT, and I mean anything. I kept garage door openers, handicap plaqards, even things with no real value. Funny thing, my BM could never really figure out who was doing this.

Back in the WW, some customer called the police on a branch because they said they left $100 worth of candy in the trunk of the rental. Wow. $100 worth of candy. That is a racket.

It is not common to find anything of real value, but quite often you will find something of value to the customer. And I kept everything, especially garage door openers.

my rule for finding shit was this. i would hold onto the item untill i heard from the customer if the customer was a cock (most were) and blamed me for their forgetfullness, i would feign ingnorance and throw their shit in the garbage. immature? for sure, but i got sick of being shit on by every other customer. my crowning jewel was some dale ernhardt skank who forgot about 100 cds in her sunday drop car. monday a.m my prep found them first thing, i put them in my desk drawer and waited for the phone call. the phone rang i picked it up and the first thing i heard was a shriek from the customer, blaming me for her misfortune. I politely said i would look for them, hung up the phone, flipped thru the cd case to see if any were worth claiming (the were all garbage, travis tritt bullshit), and immediatley dumped the whole pouch in the trash. then i called her back and said i couldn't find them. of course she was even more furious, i felt a great sense of satisfaction. treat people decent, and you shall recieve decent treatment. shit on people and you shall be shit on. this was yrs ago and it still brings a sense of satisfaction to my mind
