Yeah, but you also say that you have had good experiences with Enterprise. If people you didn't know started saying bad things about a friend of yours, would you believe them or would you trust your friend? Just man up and say that you were wrong to give someone advice on how to cheat a company.

Honestly! I have to actually defend Tailfins on this one...he is just voicing his opinion, and he was just honestly relaying that that is an option available...and it's Tailfins...what did you expect him to say about this?

And in my opinion, yes the renter was at fault. But he does have the option to go to court over it, and if he doesn't mind sparing all of that time and cost, why should Enterprise? I think they can afford it!

It is an option available, but why tell an idiot like the original poster? The problem with our society is that everyone is quick to sue. In Japan, the losing party has to pay all legal expenses. Here, even if you are accused of a bogus charge you have to spend a lot of money to defend yourself. You don't actually believe the line "why should Enterprise? I think they can afford it!" do you? I bet you could afford if I took a hundred dollars from you but it still wouldn't be right.

You are right, it is not morally right, but as an ex employee I know the amount of money they save by paying their front line staff next to nothing...yeah I guess I'm still a little bitter!

what i find particularly funny about this site is that everyone is so quick to quick to lump erac into one giant corporate bubble as opposed to several independently run businesses. If one of them is not treating your right, go to another one or go rent with another company. as far as the original poster, how did you get lost in the car, lose the keys and then forgot where you left the car. I mean i can understand if you just wrecked the car and then lost the keys but how do you not remember where you left a car that isn't yours. either way, you know you are responsible for the damage and you know the damage that you did, you also voided your coverage when you lost the keys, contact the headquarters and try to get any info you can before this thing gets out of hand. first, why are you getting sued as opposed to just having to file a claim with your insurance. second, if you don't have any insurance, why weren't you just sent a bill before getting sued, third, contact the shop and get the estimate for yourself. I currently work for erac and know many people in loss control and over in my region, you get a bill and the option to either pay it yourself or file a claim with your insurance and if you don't have any insurance and can't pay, you get sent to collections so again, how did you end up getting sued.

I basically got lost in the car, banged it up with about $2000 worth of damage, found where I had left the car a day later, and called enterprise who came and picked it up. I had also lost the keys, which, as i've heard voids the insurance policy and so on. BUT Also from what i've been reading enterprise isn't supposed to take debit cards for payment, and that is exactly what i used. They withdrew $500 dollars for the deductible at first which i understood. A few days later they withdrew $1000, this was before I found the car, i had reported it lost to them. I got that money refunded but never the $500 which if the insurance policy is void then there should be no deductible and/or that money should go to the repairs.

My question is this, with the lawsuit pending, should I fight it, call their attorney, or leave don ross a long voicemail that he'll probably laugh at and delete?

I am not an attorney, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Your Fucked!
