To the original poster, I am sure if you requested a full tank on your rental at the time of the reservation they would honor that request. It is PITA to fill every single car all the time, but for someone who asks for it, I have always done that for them. If I was you when you make your reservation ask the rep on the phone to make a note of it. Most likely it will be done. Let us know how it works out in the future.

Just ask my friend.

I am more than happy to ride with my corporate account to the gas station and fill the tank up before you leave.

Hopefully, the corporate renter does understand we are in a fast paced business and the car we are renting them is not planned to not have a lot of gas. If you want a full tank of gas, just ask. There is no way any Enterprise employee will say no. A simple positive approach to an easy question will get you far in life. We take pride in taking care of our customers, so when you want something, just ask. We will listen to you and take care of you.

Thank you

Then why don't you do it without us having to ask?

Hopefully, the Enterprise employee does understand that we, the customers, are in a fast paced business and that the car you're renting us had better have a full tank of gas.

But this isn't good enough. You can't just say "Car's out of gas? My bad. Come with me and we'll fill it up together."

If you "take pride" in taking care of your customers, the first step is to stop making excuses for turning cars without proper service.

I don't think anyone is trying to make excuses here. When I was a manager it was the same system for me. If we had a corporate cust on the way we made sure to have a car with a full tank. All others were required to have at least 3/8 if not half. I agree with you that we should just fill every car up but, The reason we don't fill up every car is simple math. 600,000 cars X 15 average gallons in tank X $2.00 = 18 million to fill up all the cars. This figure is probably low due to not only filling up existing cars but also new cars added to fleet over the course of the year. Erac figures this would be a net loss since when the cars are sold they would still have a tank of gas.
Not good math mind you because in the long run it would more than likely cost us less and increase cust sat. Erac is just not willing to make this initial outlay. To me that is just the cost of doing business

So then we can stop picking you up at your house/office/bodyshop/dealership or wherever else your dumb ass needs a ride from and then back to when you return. It takes gas to pick you up and take you home thats why the cars arent always full. We're not going to fill them every time we have to take you somewhere.

I'd love to have all the cars on full when they go out but it isnt possible. If its that big of a deal take a little initiative and call the branch an hour or so before you go in and request that the cars has a full tank, shouldnt be that big of a problem.

OMG Admin, don't tell us how to run our business. You seem like a lil whiney douche bag who wants us to bend over for him. We are way too busy to actually fill up every tank.

Corporate customers are great, I usually try to give them the most full tank possible. I understand that it is a pain to have to fill the tank back to the same level, but is it really THAT big of a pain?

I say get over it.

ok, so I haven't read all the postings on the board for this topic, but....

1. I work for C3 (ottawa) and here in C3 we have a min 1/4 tank policy. This is due to the fact that it costs ALOT of money to fill up however many vehicles in your fleet (the average around here, about 100).

2. For corporate accounts, at least around here, if you meantion that you need a full tank of gas ahead of time when booking the reservation, we will make it happen

3. What it all boils down to is that we are a LOW COST PROVIDER, which means exactly that. Anything we can do as a company to lower our costs, lowers yours. By not having to invest in fuel reserves in our vehicles, we save money. Your forgetting that we also do pickup service that also costs gas mula.

All in all, if you want to pay twice the price and get the exact make and model that you want, go ahead. We have our target market, and other companies have theirs.

Besides the fact that its an extra step in the process of getting the vehicle ready for customers and usually includes leaving our office with the vehicle since we clean them at the branch which takes more time...and since we aim to sit at high on rent numbers (percentage of our fleet on rent at one given moment)--Usually over 90% ALSO PART OF THE LOW-COST LEADER way of business - the vehicle you are getting may very well have been returned 10 minutes ago.

Morale of the story - when booking, book with that branch and request a full tank.

ps: Weekend special retailers can forget all about that.
