if you wanted a car on the cheap couldn't you just give the rental agent a bogus State Farm claim # and just tell them that State Farm is reimbursing you for the rental? When I was working at ERAC I never bothered to call and verify that it was an actual claim # (not sure if we were even supposed to). if the customer had their own CC and wanted to pay for it on their own.

The reason I ask is because I'm headed out of town on vacation and need to rent a car for a few days. When I worked at erac, people would come in time to time stating they were State Farm employees. We would honor the State Farm rate for them without checking to see if they were in fact SF employees. I just wanted to see what Ins. company had the lowest rates, b/c that's the one I'm going to say I work for when I make my res.

Did you honor these rates for ins. employees at your branches? How about airport branches? Do you think it will work?

Just say you're an adjuster and odds are they won't do any research to find out, at least my BM never did. Just don't try to rent a Luxury Car or a huge SUV, as that might raise some suspicions. BTW, In my time there State Farm rates were the cheapest insurance rates.

Actually, it's better to say you have a claim with State Farm than to say you are an agent/adjuster, etc. That way, the branch may offer you the State Farm rate. The latest agreement with State Farm says ERAC will offer 10% off the lowest available rate to any State Farm employee. Now SUVs and mini-vans aren't quite as cheap. I'm not sure how many offices know about this new rule, so you may still be able to get away with it.

at my branch we would give you the rate but you would need to bring in a police report or something stating that you were involved in an accident. The claim # really didn't matter

At the airport usually you can get the rate cheaper. Remember you are going to be billed at calendar day instead of 24 hr billing so it might come out to the same or even more depending where you are renting.
