Default LAX car selection

Is anyone familiar with the Compact and Intermediate cars I might expect to encounter at LAX? I'll be renting sometime midday on a Friday, so I'm assuming the selection won't be extensive, but I'd love to get an idea of what kind of cars they've got in their inventory.

If you're stupid enough to rent a class of car that 5 million other people rent then expect a dirty, damaged, smelly car. Doesn't really matter what the makes are, they'll all be shit. Want a decent car? Rent a Standard size car or above. Don't be fucking cheap for a few extra dollars. If you get a decent compact car, consider it your lucky day.

BTW genius, call LAX and they'll tell you.
Everyone here hates ERAC, what the fuck do they care.

If you reserved a compace or intermediate car, expect to get a small (Chevy Aveo, Chevy Cobalt, Kia Rio, Dodge Neon, Ford Focus) high mileage car that probably has stains and odd smells in it. Most of those cars have endured the beatings of many insurance rentals. The car you get may or may not have power windows and/or a cd player. Like the poster above said, do yourself a big favor and spend a few bucks and upgrade into a Standard Car or better. It'll be worth it.

I would expect the vehicles mentioned in the last post (Aveo, Cobalt, Focus, etc.) However, the cars at the airport seem to be the newer and have lower miles than the ones at the neighborhood branches. It seems like ERAC keeps its small cars at the airport for the first 10K miles then rents them to the insurance/local market later in life.

Most of the rentals I've had at local branches have had high miles, except for one brand new Buick Lucerne that was destined for a dealership before they rented it to me on a walk-in.

why would you book anything other than an ecar or ccar? most airports sell out of them so fast that you're almost assured of a free upgrade.

just think if that kia rio with 40k could tell the stories it has seen?

More like the curbs it's been over, the parking lot/toll arms it has smashed through, and the shit that's been spilled inside.

What's the best off road vehicle...an Enterprise car, especially an Aveo.

If you're really lucky, you might get a lingering '04 Cavalier with 45-50k on the odometer. I just saw one out here in Baton Rouge area.

Original Poster here.

I reserved a Standard and switched to a Full size when I realized they were the same price for a week-long rental, so get off my damn back about booking an ECAR. Enterprise really spanked some of you kids, didn't they?

I was just curious to see if anyone had rented from LAX recently and knew the typical makes/models they typically rent. I don't want a crap car - of course - but I also need something smaller than a Crown Victoria since gas would be ridiculous for only myself and the single passenger I'll have with me.

I'll just call the LAX branch and ask them, I guess. Didn't think it would hurt to check on here.

Don't worry. Most ERAC "full sized" cars are either V6 Impalas/Tauruses or 4 Cyl Accords/Camrys/Altimas.

The Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis are "premium" cars.

There's really not that much difference between a full size and a standard. Confort is pretty much the same. Trunk space just a slight difference. And just an FYI....you can get a high mileage car in any car class.
