Everyone Please understand I have no intent to sue anyone. I just want Enterprise to learn their lesson and not let this continue. What is bothering me is they have not changed on bit. All I wanted was a sincere apology and to rectify this and learn from it. But this has not happened. The regional mgr. told me he was going to clean house. My response was I don't want anyone fired but I don't want this to happen again. I happen to know from a relative of an employee of this branch that nothing has been done. Not even a meeting addressing this matter. So I guess that with police report in hand I am going to the media. Hopefully that will get Enterprise to open their eyes. They have tried to point the finger on the person who left the gun, the police but not on Enterprise. If they had addressed this as was promised then I would have been satisfied but not when they don't. My reply

The reason I continued to ask you what you wanted out of this Italian was not to harass you. It was to find out what you wanted. If you wanted them to have a meeting and address the issue, that is what they should have done. If you wanted an apology from Andy Taylor himself, they should have worked to make it happen. If you wanted someone fired, or wanted to profit in some way though, I was going to accept that you were simply typical of what I saw in my office on a regular basis. Someone who forgets that humanity is something that comes from both ends. You, as the customer, want to be treated like a person and not just a walking dollar bill. The person on the other side of the counter wants to be treated like a person and see that you accept that anyone can make a mistake. The truly important thing in this whole situation is that no one was hurt. Please accept my apology for them.

I feel that this company has handled this very poorly. As far as benefiting from this no thank you. I pay my own way to old fashioned. This has become a sue happy world believe me I know my malpractice ins. costs a fortune. I just don't want to see this happen to anyone else. Yes mistakes happen. I just feel that they have done nothing. That is just not acceptable I guess its just principal.

It is precisely because nothing happened that Enterprise needs to deal with this on its own. Why should it take the threat of a possible law suite to take ownership and at the very least give a sincere appology rather than a "oh that kind of stuff happens all the time haha! welcome to my world". So JH what would you do if you were in this parent's shoes? What would you expect from Enterprise if you were in this situation? What if you found a loaded gun between the sheets of a hotel room you rented? Who would you blame, and would an appology suffice?

Would an apology suffice? Perhaps. I will tell you though that if it didn't, I would let them know what would make me happy. A 'you aren't going to get away with this' attitude isn't going to solve anything, because no solution is offered. To answer your question though.... Hmmmm. I stay a night in a hotel and find a loaded gun and no one is hurt? I would probably build some hype by pointing out that someone could have been hurt and shoot (hehe, I said shoot) for a voucher for like 5 free nights if it were some sort of hotel chain. They would probably then tell me they could do three, which I would accept. Part of my ability to dismiss the firearm incident my have to do with my upbringing. MY family includes plenty of ex-marines and law enforcement so I grew up around guns and fired my first when I was around four years old. A gun can't hurt anyone by itself.

HOLY @#%$!!! Maybe it's the Canuck in me but you SHOT A GUN AT 4 YEARS OLD?!?!?!?!!??! Isn't that a little insane? Even if no one got hurt. Your climatization to lethal weapons is what I would expect from someone who grew up in Isreal or Palistine!! (no offense to those who have--it's just the impretion I get from the news that you guys have seen quite a few of them in your lifetime)

A gun can't hurt anyone by itself." -I understand that guns aren't that big of a deal to you, but I'm sure they are to most parents that have a shred of common sense. Guns don't kill people, people kill people. Well, that is true, but don't ya think that a 5 year old reaching in the glove box out of curioisty and finding a loaded 9mm is not QUITE the same as a full grown adult finding it. The adult is more likely not to play with the trigger while he points it at himself. Point being, I'm sure the lady would like everyone to grasp the seriousness of what could have happened. You seem not to take it seriously because of your early introduction to weapons. |
