Default Lake Forest/Irvine, CA location on Rockfield

Car broke down on freeway, got towed to VW dealer in Irvine, CA. Dealer is hooked up with Lake Forest Enterprise location on Rockfield. Really nice Enterprise shuttle guy came and picked me up--told him I needed a small, inexpensive car for 1-2 days max while my car was being repaired. Got to Enterprise, and all they had left were three vehicles--crappy, expensive selection:

1.) Dakota pickup ($59.99/day)
2.) Ford Escape ($69.99/day)
3.) Toyota Avalon (w/leather; $79.99/day)

Was told #1 was the cheapest, but since my own car is a small sedan, I didn't feel comfortable handling a pickup. So i chose the next, least expensive vehicle--the Escape.

With my dealer's discount, the rental was $69.99/day. I was like, 'are you kidding me?' I normally spend no more than $40/day on car rentals. I decided to suck it up and pay it because I was desperate. Don't have anyone that could pick me up or take me around. I then got the B.S. rundown on the insurance coverage, which i think is a big scam.

Then, on top of getting ripped off, the car is FILTHY. There's a friggin car wash right next door that's STILL OPEN. Granted, I understand that Enterprise was about to close (it was 6pm), but it would've taken the guy maybe 10 mins to get the car washed (customer service??). Nope, gave it to me 'as is'. Was obvious the car had just gotten back from a road trip--dead bugs all over the windshield, which made it hard to see. Tried cleaning it with the wipers--no dice.

I won't rent from Enterprise again, no matter where I am.

Complain to the VW service writer about the price of the rental. The service writer will make a call to the branch manager and get the price lowered. Dealerships get discounted prices when they use a local enterprise.
