Customer Horror Story

When I was working for this god forsaken company a few years back, I had the displeasure of picking up a customer from a Mercedes dealership. He was talking about his job and family, no big deal. I thought he was going to be a nice guy. About a mile away from the branch, this guy's cell phone is going off. His ringtone was a Jewish song, Hava nagila hava (please pardon the butchering of that one). Anyway, I hear this and happen to hum along to the tone. He immediately shuts the phone off and begins yelling at me as loud as possible. Saying things like, "You're not Jewish so you can't hum, sing, or even think that song!!!" I just said that I heard the song before and it was catchy.

I gets better. We get to the branch and he starts calling me an anti-semite! My manager tries to defuse the situation and that gets us nowhere. Later on, this same customer call the RVP of the group. I get a call the same day from my RVP. He begins yelling at me, telling me I need to be more sensitive to other peoples cultures. I JUST HUMMED A FUCKING TUNE!!!! I don't get people anymore. What did I do so wrong?

Some people are just hyper-sensitive about race and religion (sometimes rightly so). They live in a metropolitan microcosm usually and are politically correct about everything. They consider the places I live just the land mass you fly over to get to the other cost. These people tend to vote for people like Hillary Clinton. Let it roll off and have the advantage of knowing life is too short to throw yourself into a tirade when someone makes a faux pax. I am Irish, German, and English. Theoretically I should be a very angry/lovable drunk, have a liver made out of steel and bad teeth. But none of this is true. Well…maybe the liver thing.

Dude... jackasses are all over the place. That could have happened at the McDonald's you go to every day for lunch, or riding the bus home from work. Grow some skin and realize that the world doesn't revolve around you, and life sucks sometimes.

Last I checked, Race had NOTHING to do with the color of your skin, but rather your origins.
