Default the truth about reservations

just b/c you make a reservation, doesnt mean that you will have a car when you show up. unless its only a car and about 95% of people get put into one, however......if you are booked in to a minivan, suv, or truck, especially during high season, or anytime. i would make plans B and C. ("""""b/c there is a small percentage of availability, and such a high demand, and even though i do everything that i can for my customers, sometimes things are out of my control, and i do not deserve to be yelled at. im sorry that i ruined your vacation, and that you will tell everyoe how crappy we are. go ahead... b/c i know that i have done everything in my power to help you """"). i fell bad for the people that have to do this job, i was talking to one of the employees there and this was pretty much the quote that she had told me about the situation going on there. the last manager walked out and left her witha shit situation. something like seriously 40 minivan reservations in a 2 week period, and they dont even have that many in the entire group. please understand that things dont always go as planed, and some employees actually try to help, dont yell at them, they do not deserve it, talk to corporat hq, write a letter stating how mad you are, but dont call the employees names and yell and make tham cry. it makes you as much as an asshole or bitch, as you precieved them to be, mabye more

When I used to work at ERAC in Group 45, we were always told to "No look book," meaning just make the reservation without checking availability. My regional rental manager and area manager would say to book the vans and SUVs at the best rates, and they would make sure we had the vehicles. A holiday rush comes and before you know it, the branch has 40 minivan and 10 large SUV reservations for the holiday. Half the time, the fearless leaders didn't come through with the promised vehicles. It was usually up to the assistant and branch managers to locate vehicles elsewhere (which was difficult considering every other branch was in the same situation). When we did find vehicles, the we would have to work even more overtime shuttleling cars after hours. Way to go Fontaine, Potter and the rest of the upper management for setting people up for success. Nothing like getting yelled at by customers during the holidays for things out of your control that could have been prevented by adequate management.

I gotta agree, I know customers are pains in the ass, but e-chimps deserve grief. Look at it this way, the more grief you give them the quicker they'll find another job, hence you are saving their lives.

I always think that causing someone demoralizing humiliation is a great way to get them to change. Thats why I try to tell Robert he is a useless sack of shit. Hopefully someday he will be a useful member of society.
