Default P.A.C. - United Way

I didn’t participate in donating money to the PAC or United Way. I disagreed with both. We were told it was voluntary, however there was heavy arm twisting going on. My GM demanded 100% participation. When I refused he took it out on my Department Head. Shortly after I received a new pay plan reducing the overall pay I was receiving. Shortly after that the revised the plan reducing my pay again. Under my management my branch set record units and profits and Esqi. (10% unit growth - over 1000% profit growth - 92% Esqi - 100% employee retention) I had at this time 12 years experience with ERAC. I believe the pay changes were retaliation to my lack of participation in the company sponsored donation projects. I'm looking for others who have similar experiences. I need to know if this is isolated or not.

Isn't PAC contribution limited to L3's? 12 years and a Branch Manager? Time to go whether getting pushed or not!

Thanks for being a moron. I was a Car Sales Branch Managers and that is a level 3 position. They recently changed their title to Area Car Sales Manager, however, that was because the new Chimps in rental didn't know they were L3. The point is you manage and are paid off of your branch. All the branches I worked at were very successful. I believe I was targeted because I didn't agree with the idea of giving my money to a PAC that I did not know what or how they intended on using the money. Also, I shared point of view with other L3s who were feeling forced to give money they did not want to give.

There are entire threads about this very topic.

Just do a search on the tool bar and type in United Way and you will see what I mean.

Thats nothing where I worked if you do not participate they make you go on a tour of the the places you are not giving money to , or try to tell you that if you are a a.m. or higher that you make enough to participate

You can sue for retaliation. FYI Check with your state.

I'm planning on it. I am just looking for more evidence. Maybe even a few who would like to join me.

Yes Our Branch Manager Also Did Some Arm Twisting In Our Office. He Said We Should All Donate Money Too. He Said He Expected %100 Participation. I Did Not Want To Donate Any Money Since I Already Donate To Another Organazation.... Anyhow They Really Put The Pressure On And Yes I Have Experienced The Same Type Of Thing....
I Really Think It Is Rude Because He Called A Special Meeting And Waited Until We All Filled Out The Forms And Then Looked At Every One Of Them Before We Left, To See If We Gave Any Money. He Also Suggested An Amount We Should All Give. The Way He Said It Made You Feel Like An Asshole If You Did Not Donate....
They Can Stick That United Way Bs Up Their Ass. Besides The United Way Has Already Been In Trouble For Collecting Money When It Never Goes To The People Who Really Need It Anyways...

And that is EXACTLY why I do not donate to them. Before you make a large donation to any organization do your research. This organization has had so much bad press and the fact that you are being forced to donate is insane. I did not donate one year (reread my postings in this thread) and there was no real reatiliation but damn if I didn't feel uncomfortable.

I even had to sit through a 15 minute movie on what the UW does for people in our area....cut me a break!

I don't know what Group you're speaking of, but in Group32 I can tell you from first hand experience, that after each and every United Way fund raising event, the RVPs were in the HR Manager's office first thing the next morning checking out who did or DID NOT give, who was a "Leadership Giver" (over 1K a year) etc.... Then, for those that were on the "no-giver" list or the ones that SHOULD be a "Leadership Giver" were talked to, and talked to and talked to.

You can bet when promo's came around, who was still on the no-giver list, didnt get a fair shake.....
