Default Hertz

I was offered the position of MT by Hertz earlier during the week and accepted it. It starts on the 28th of this month. First 30 days is mostly a classroom-style setting... after that, we each get placed in a branch within the area.

What are some of the things I can expect, good and bad? The city manager (seems like a nice guy) who I spoke to during the final interview told me he likes to keep his employees under 50 hours/week. I don't mind working more than that since a huge chunk of my check will come from OT. Additionally, once I come off the training mode, will I still be hourly and salaried? If the latter, what is the base?

I never worked for ERAC or any other rental company, if it matters. Thanks.

Default Hertz So. Pac. (LA Area)

Mark900,

Expect to work 52 hrs. wk. You will be an hourly worker+ot+comm. Expect a laid back atmosphere from your coworker. I think ERAC is very intense & fast pace. Commission is earned through hardwork depending on SRPD, & Other Options. I see commission cks from $0-$2,000/mo.

Most BM and ABM in my city are old timers (28yr old+). They seemed like they under alot of stress, burned out, and don't care. I guess their just waiting for something better to come along, and live paycheck to paycheck. Expect your branch to be unorganized, and under staffed. That is the worst case scenario. That's why they probaly hire you. At ERAC, I guess you need to be a "teamplayer." For Hertz, everyone is for themselves. My best suggestion is just try to have fun, and learn as much as you can the first months. Hope this helps.

Sorry I can't tell you much as far as the location I work at. But, I am an ABM in the area where you used to work. I worked for 4 BM in different office. 3 out 4 BM I'd worked for sucked. All I can say is HLE really wants to grow but don't have enough leaders to open new offices. No one is really ready to step up. I expect alot employees to quit b/c incentive goals are too hard to hit. Alot of ERAC people went to work for HLE. They get promoted quick but end up leaving HLE. Hertz is more of an ethically solid co., by the books, and HLE people are alot different from ERAC people. ExERAC people cannot adapt to HLE so they leave.Have you heard anything else going on from your friends at HLE?

My friend are going to quit in the next couple of weeks. They are very strssed out in selling. They re always out of cars and get no help from distribution and the airports because they need cars too. Every branch are out for themselves.

My Area Mgr. is BK, City Mgr. is Rick C., and BM is ??? I barely make $10 SRPD (10.09 last mo), and my service revenue varies mo. to mo. I would say I do average compare to others in my city. I say that b/c I seen other employees commission cks are bigger than mine. It's hard to sell already, and incentive goals are hard to hit. I don't usually go to the dinner anymore b/c I DO NOT kiss a$$. I want to say I have a good City Mgr., my Area Mgr. seems bias & races toward minorties, & most BM flat out suck. Everyone is out to cover thier own a$$.
Do you know if many Hertz people know of this website? Did you make good commission at Hertz? What your friend avg. commission ck?

My commission checks ranges from $500 - $1500 per month. My friends average about the same. I did the most rentals in my office. My city manager was cool in which he tried to help our city but my branch manager sucked in which she didn't care. Is your city manager cool or a jerk. are yoyu from the westside, downtown, south bay, or the valley.

Default Need Feedback from Hertz People

I'm from the Westside Coastal. My City Mgr. is a cool guy & money driven, which is good. We both got something in common. Last month, everyone in my area took a sh!t in numbers. The avg. commission ck in my area was $202. That's weak! I want to say people at Hertz don't make the kind of commission they used to make.

***Come on Hertz people give me your feedback. Where are Hertz people at ?***

Thanks for the info. I'm from the No. CA area. HR at Hertz told me the first 30 days will take place in a "classroom-style" setting with occasional trips to local branches to job shadow. Should I expect around 52 hrs/week during this period as well?

Your city manager was very pissed. My branch manager didn't care and let us do what we want. Who is your biggest money maker in your area and what branch are you from.
