Default you said everything i have thought since i have been here

i have been with this company for over a year now and i have been looking for a job every day. the issue of clothes with this company is mind blowing, WHY we wear these shirts and ties in the line of work we do is crazy. we wash cars in 100 degree weather and freezing weather and then have to go inside with either water pooring from our faces from the heat or our hands are numb from frost bite to try and smile and shake a person hands....get real.
a nice polo shirt and slacks are all you need with what we do...and another thing, on another subject, why the heck dont this company use the beer money and hotel expences to lure young you in with and put towards raises for our hard work. i mean i look back at all the money this company blows on trying to impress when instead they should be putting it towards raises. i work in a branch that has over 70% of buisness with ins. related deals and the rest is broken down between corp. and retail. YET! i am drilled by my area manager on why my sales #'s are lacking....when you go explain why, all you get is "well that's an excuse" yet when i ask them to show me how its done they decline to demonstrate.
i have never seen my area manager or branch manager sale cov to a ins deal that didn't just have liability or something like that. i do just about all pick ups and deliveries at my branch and get little to no credit for the work i do, i put in just as many hours as they do and do all the deals that they avoid on a daily basis because they are afraid of their numbers dropping, when i am the one trying to move up for promotions.
i am still a mt and my future looks very glim with this company because everytime it looks i have a oppurtunity to take the grill my area manager adds another loop hole to prevent me from reaching any goals. he sets these goals that are in no way reachable at my branch and he knows it, but he wants to see us fail. he's a dick head, and that is why just in the past month alone he has lost 4 employees.
it looks like # 5 will come soon, once a opening comes up else place.
i love this site and its great to see other people who are as flustered as i am and talk about all the issues i have tried to talk about to people with-in the company but only to be lied to about with the hope of bigger and better things.

It drives me absolutely NUTS the things people in ERAC do. A lot of times it doesn't make any sense what so ever. And that's why I left, and so many others do.

This site is like free therapy!

You'll be okay...you sound smarter than the average MT and that's most likely why you're being held back. You're probably an individual (that's suicide in terms of any future promotions at ERAC) who knows a sh*t situation when he/she is faced with one.
Don't lose hope. Many of the posters on this board have been in your shoes.

Regardless of whether anyone here approves of their dress code, that is the way it is. I also question the need for it, but it does serve a purpose and as the owners of the company they have decided it is what they want.

Although having to wear a long sleeves shirt in the summer time may be coupled with something else to prompt someone to leave, I have never seen anyone leave that company simply because of the dress code, so it must not be all that bad.

Because the money they spend on beer and hotel expenses is a drop in the bucket compared to the raises they give on a semi-regular basis anyway. Let's say you have an area party and 50-100 employees show up. The bar tab probably won't be more than $1500. If you make the 'big' announcement that you have decided to stop with the silly parties and put an extra $10 per month in everyones pay check ($5 after taxes) people aren't going to fall to the floor praising your wisdom. As I have said about many of these issues, it's a numbers game.
