Default What would make ERAC a better workplace?

granted, renting cars will always suck
but i think some minor adjustments could be made to improve team morale.
ERAC needs to take a hard look at this if they really aspire to be loved by their employees

-change the motto of customers first, employees second. unhappy employees breed unhappy customers...such an easy fix
-loosen the dress code...this isn't 1952, and this isn't a bank. hell even modern banks are business casual. it just doesn't make sense to go about rental activites while in a suit and tie, not functional in the least. and, honestly, customers don't give a fuck if you are wearing a white shirt or not...as a matter of fact i think erac'ers come across as prentenious in their formal work attire.
-modify the mt-ma jump...selling dub does not make one a good leader.
sometimes it may, but rarely i believe.
-INCREASE PAY ACROSS THE BOARD! the discrepenancy between lower level employees pay and mid-upper level employees pay is disgusting and fosters an resentful environment.
-make MT pay salary an actual salary and not some bullshit salary plus
any more?

-in the face of hostile customers, show some spine...how many times have to toed the company policy to a T only to have a superior rule in the customers favor?

- Management should back up employees, or at least be openminded when listening to a dispute between customer & employee. Don't always take the customers side. THE CUSTOMER IS NOT ALWAYS RIGHT AND IT PISSES YOUR FUCKING EMPLOYEES OFF WHEN YOU TREAT US LIKE SHIT AND BELIEVE CRACKHEADS, DRUG DEALERS, AND CUSTOMERS ENGAGED IN INSURANCE FRAUD.

- Don't just give employee personal time lip service, and then proceed to make employees work long ass hours and give them shit when they want to take a day, ESPECIALLY around vacation times. Yes we are busy, but if we had proper staffing at offices, then we would be able to handle a busy couple days while one person is gone. Which brings us to:

- Staffing. Don't staff them so thin that all the employees are stressed the fuck out and running their ass off for the pittance they make. Whether that means 1 or 2 more fulltimers, getting a couple of part-timers, or maybe just adding a driver or two. And don't give them shit when the drivers are there and they run up some hours. The cars don't fetch themselves. If you simply allowed the drivers to do pick ups during the day, let them go pick them up for you and drop the keys in the drop box at the office, or they came in a few minutes early and made a round up of all the usual dropoff suspects (bodyshops, dealers, etc.) then maybe we could get done more often on time and we'd be better equipped to deal with customers coming in on Mon. morning.

- Pay. I was once told by an RVP that they could pay everybody at the bottom a little bit, or the folks at the top a lot. You guys tell us its a simple job, just renting cars, then what is the damn justification for your high ass salary and our shit pay? Granted, I'm no liberal, so I think that upper management making more gives you an incentive to succeed, but I ain't eating outta garbage bins behind McD's for 10 years at ERAC trying to get to the big bucks, when only like 1 in 500+ actually hits that pay level. If I want that, I will do the lotto. Chances are better, its less stressful, and the payout is much better. Also, even if its like %0.005, give the MT's and MA's a taste of the action. Hell, even if I had been able to make $50 more a month off a little commission bump, I might have tried that much harder.

- Reservations & upper management. Don't make us run at 99.5%, tell us to book that MVAN rez for tomorrow morning, and then DON'T help us get that van. Know your limitations and your staffs limitations. Also, if a manager calls and says to sell me out, just listen to them. Don't say, "Eh, we don't need to do that." Its an ESQI issue, makes employees PISSED when you don't back them (as stated above) and your manager knows what he has on his plate. He is largely on commission, and therefore gives a damn about running tight.

shorter working hours. make it long hours by all means, but not slave labour hours.

make the cutomers aware of basic facts. branches close at 6 and the staff go home. if you turn up at 5.55 and expect a lift that will mean some guy stays til 8 you won't get it.
